    Health changes since going AF

Sounds like your body is getting rid of the AL in a normal manner Miss B.
You can also try bathing in bicarb of soda which helps absorb the toxins out of your system.

You are doing a fantastic job -- stay strong, stay focused and you'll soon be feeling hundreds.

Hi Blossom and well done for making a beginning.

The night sweating and headache is your body detoxing from the alcohol. A withdrawal symptom. Drink lots of water with lemon in it and you will start to feel better soon.

Keep Strong, it is so worth it!
If alcohol made you happy I should be the happiest person alive! I'm not.

        Hi Luba,

        Hope you are doing well
You mentioned using Serentyl for anxiety - I use that at times. I am on Amoryn 2X daily (since January) which has been extremely effective in managing my anxiety and resulting depression. Once I had all that under control, giving up my wine habit really wasn't so bad. I also highly recommend the CDs. I know a lot of people have said they don't like them but they're worth a shot. I figure anything to reinforce these good feelings is worth a try.

        Best wishes,

          Hey Lavande,
I hope you are going well too.

I have been using Seredyn once in a while now - have found since being AF (on day 17 today - yeeha) that my anxiety has reduced by about 80% (amazing)- I think that alcohol made it sooooooooooooooooo much worse. I began listening to the CD's again last night and found that I had a very relaxed and peaceful sleep as a result. Going to keep using it like you suggested.
Do you need a prescription for Amoryn? I will have to research it here in Australia but I appreciate the suggestion - will let you know how I go. :thanks:

Peace and happiness to you and yours.

            Hi Luba,

No prescription needed for Amoryn. It's made by the same manufacturer as Seredyn. I buy these products directly from the website, as far as I know they ship to Australia.

It's true, alcohol does increase your anxiety, no arguement there. Using wine to self-medicate was a stupid idea, I knew better but did it anyway. I think my anxiety level has always been too high. Growing up in a dysfunctional home will do that to you. My anxiety level continued to grow to the point that I was feeling pretty much crippled and had to do something. Finding these herbal products was such a blessing!

I hope that anyone else here with a chronic anxiety/depression problem will consider giving these products a try. They work and cause no side effects, whatsoever.

I have been AF since 3/26/09 and loving it too

Wishing you continued success, health & happiness.

              Health changes since going AF

Thanks Dee Bee and Blue Sky. I slipped up on Friday night, and consumed a bottle and a half of wine, felt like rubbish on Saturday in the morning, but went to the gym and drank loads of water and had some Milk Thistle tablets, an immune boosting supplement, my chinese herbs and a multi and NO painkillers, and remarkably I was able to enjoy my day. I slept sooo well on Saturday night, no sweats, no headache, and woke up feeling amazing. Made it to the gym twice today (only 30 minutes each time but felt brilliant).
I'm about to have my chinese herbs (some ghastly concoction that seems to be helping - from a chinese medical practitioner who felt my Qi was low), and have tossed out the acupuncture and massage as I felt dubious about the cost versus the benefits. But off to the osteopath this week, and may have some acupuncture as well later in the week.
Sooo, I think that the natural approach is working for me - despite a slip up. At least it didn't spiral into a full weekend binge.
              Night night!

                Health changes since going AF

                Helllo all,

I'm on DAY 8, it is evening. I shall try and list improvements:

                1. Not feeling half so depressed as usual
                2. Not feeling so irritable and worried. Very important when you have a small child.
                3. Not worried about my bad breath anymore
                4. Not drinking so much coffee (don't feel as if I need so much, unusual)
                5. Eating better - so more healthy
                6. Sleeping very deeply the last couple of nights, I read the stuff about waking up at 3.a.m I'm been there too and it is a rubbish feeling.
7.More communicative and patient (bad breath, more patience having a lot to do with it)

The only thing I'm slightly worried about is my PMT. It is not time to get it yet, but I've always had it really badly. Sometimes felt like my whole skin was being stretched, so irritable I was. Strategies - drink plenty of water. Try and rest up.

                best to yous

Found myself laughing today, which I don't seem to have done for ages! (that's a health benefit isn't it - it is supposed to help the immune system)

                    Update on positive changes

                    Hey everyone,
I thought I would update my post - I posted on day 3 AF about the changes I had experienced in my body and mind since giving up the poison (it really is!!!) and now I am on day 30AF a bit of a milestone really. Anyway, here goes.......

                    Clearer mind (about 600%!!)
Restful sleep every night (no more weird dreams and night sweats! Yay)
No more waking up at 3am feling crazily anxious
Almost clear tongue (rather than coated and disgusting)
Not so bloated (about 80% less)
                    Much more energy (about 200%more)
                    Lost about 2.5 kilos
                    Clearer skin
Loads of comments about how well I look
Feeling calmer and anxiety levels reduced (about 110%!!!)
Craving and eating health food - enjoying it and wanting to eat!!
Cravings down physically 100% and psychologically about 70%
Improved fitness (I do a martial art - my instructor commented he hasn't seen me train so well in a year!!!).
Better patience and improved relationship with my children
Renewed relationship with my husband (working at it slowly)
                    Less headaches
Stabilised blood sugars (L-Glut is helping wonders)
Increased confidence and self esteem (due to not feeling guilty 24/7)
                    Reconnecting with friends and family

I can't think of any more at the minute but I know there are millions more - have to get ready for work and school - It's my son's sixth birthday today and the first time in about 3 years I have been awake the night before to make a cake and not wake up hungover.....sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a great day all. MWO and you guys rock!!!!!!!!
                    Peace and happiness,

Wow! This is VERY encouraging reading how much better everyone is doing since getting off the sauce! I'm really looking forward to feeling 'human' again. Hopefully in the not-too-distant future, I'll be able to post about how much better my health has gotten, as it's pretty awful right now. Congrats to all of you that have kicked this beast and are now healthier and happier!

                                Update on positive changes

I have been lurking around this site for a while, debating the pros and cons of giving up my two most dangerous addictions - alcohol and tobacco - to make matters worse I closet both of them so only my best friends knowhow serious my addictions have become . I'm becoming increasingly scared and sick of them.

I love all the upbeat positive information - went to AA a few times but they seem so morose and desperate. I read to set a quit date - I was thinking of July 4 - but after reading how spectacular your lives have become I may move it up.

Snickerdigger (did I mention I also have a chocolate addiction)
