beating al add with homeopathy..
I am so interested to see what they can do for you...I totally believe in homeopathy and my primary doctor was a homeopath...until they took his license for telling people that there was a cure for cancer. Not saying that it was a sure thing or promising that he could do it. He just said he believed that given the right circumstances that the body could self heal. I haven't found another good doctor in my area that uses holistic medical practices like he did.I would love to find another such gem but I am sure I would have to travel quit a distance.
Several people testified on his behalf that he had cured them of cancer but the court ruled to take his license anyway.sigpicEyes on the PRIZE, a SOBER Future !!!

For what it is worth Evie. I believe that your ex-doctor was absolutely right. I could debate this one all night and have to stop myself getting on my soap box about it. The medical establishment would rather bombard us with Chemotherapy that will if we are lucky "kill the cancer before it kills us". Quoting friend who is a doctor. They are frieghtened of anyone who comes out and states what your doctor did, although I believe he is 100% right and have personal experience to back this up. Lets face it, if someone shows that a plant or some other cheap remedy (something as simple as diet or juicing for example) can beat cancer, then this would leave a lot of drug companies high and dry. These guys run the world. Sorry to be a conspiracy theorist, but thats my view. And the view of many. I know the thread isnt about this point, but I think it raises some very interesting material, thanks guys."The greatest thing in the world is not so much where we are,
but in what direction we are moving."

alot of plants fight cancer cells...green tea has been proven to fight alot of different cancers, cooked tomatoes help fight prostate cancer, garlic, blueberries etc...mother nature knows what she's doing. i believe that a diet rich in fruit and veg with alot of whole grains can help. they say that if you live long enough, you are bound to get cancer, it's kind of a fact of life, but if you spend your life eating right and taking care of yourself you can lessen your chances of getting it early.
not drinking al is probably the best thing we can do to lessen our chances of oxidizing ourselves into cancer!
my mom (who went through modern medical "care" for breast with mets to the bone and liver ca) was convinced that cancer is caused by a virus...food for thought!

akgirl, that's what I was thinking. Also, supplementation and/or amino acid therapy are the foundation of the 7 Weeks to Sobriety program, and also part of Julia Ross's program. (I've read The Diet Cure which talks a bit about alcohol - I know their on-site program addresses alcohol as well as weight loss and some other things such as those in The Mood Cure...) Those other sources in addition to the MWO info are what has kept me going with the All-One (good amino acid content especially in the Original formula) and some other supplements I've added/deleted in the last almost 2 years since first coming here.
I believe!

i'm going to be a contrarian here, i often wonder about supplements...they are not regulated at all, so how do we know what is really in them and the amounts of "stuff" contained within? studies have shown that too much of certain supplements does alot more harm than good and who knows how much our bodies really need?
i take herbs and occassionally supplements, but really what is in those things?!

peacenik, that is a valid concern I think. It sure crosses my mind too. I try very hard to find and stick with brands that come highly recommended. In the case of All-One, I have been going on faith the RJ and her team did some homework before recommending it. I don't go with any generic versions because of that concern.
For my other supplements, I have migranted to the brands that my doctor recommends. I few things I buy from her directly.
Who knows for sure.
On the flip side, I don't trust the FDA or pharmaceutical companies any farther than I can throw them. I suspect there are even more problems on the "regulated" side of the house. In the US, Big Pharma and the FDA are dangerous bed fellows I think.

I agree absolutely wholheartedly with your final statement there. Im in the UK and I think the same applies here with the pharmaceutical companies having way way too much power.
I think there may be concerns too about the amount or the quality of some herbal products, but as to the fact that they are not "tested" by government scientists, I cant say that this would concern me at all. Herbes and plants were prior to the last 100 years all that was available in our culture to remedy any ills, and many of them are so effective. For me it is that they work with the body and more gently than synthetically produced chemicals, that makes them attractive.

but how do we know if these products (marketed products) are doing us any good at all?
this is a multi billion dollar industry that wants to make money, who's to say they are legitimate?
i don't trust the gov't that much either, but at least there would be standards and checks and balances for the product claims...maybe some studies at least.

You raise excellent points. Maybe I'm a fool but I really like my doctor who so far seems to give me the best of both worlds - she is an MD but is also very into non-invasive, homeopathic type solutions where at all possible. Whenever she recommends a particular supplement, she usually provides me with copies of articules that reference the detailed technical studies that she is basing her opinion on. I like that a lot better than just falling for a company's sales pitch all on my own LOL!
I don't know - maybe none of this does anything. Although in the case of the All-One, some very specific problems cleared up right away, which would be difficult to attribute to anything else. Even when I went back to drinking (yeah right, I thought I was "cured" and could control my drinking, but I digress...) I kept up with the All One and the pain symptoms in my left foot did not return.
Who knows...
