L-Glut is making a big difference...

Thought I'd share how the L-Glutamine is working for me (a daily drinker). If you haven't tried it, maybe it will work this well for you too.

I started L-Glut a couple weeks ago (3 capsules a day), along with milk thistle and a few extra vitamins. I went a bit AF before that (after having some elevated liver enzymes show up on a blood test), but I slipped back into the habit.... and know I have to stop AL before AL stops me. I'm fighting him tooth and nail, I tell you!

So, I started taking L-Glut. The first week there was a slightly noticeable difference, but this week it's really kicking in. I'm definitely not craving drinks. Even moreso than when I tried Kudzu last year.

... I have to confess that this hasn't yet stopped me from having some drinks out of habit, but I think I'm on my way. The L-Glut seems to be making quite an impact ..... I'm not enjoying the drinks I do have, at all.... In fact, making one and drinking it feels like more of a task most of the time .... and it even tastes kind of blah ... and takes me awhile to get through ... It's not really fun anymore.

Ummmmm ... Then why am I still making drinks? Good question. My best answer is that AL is evil. But we all know that, don't we.

Anyway ... just thought I'd share. We gotta use whatever help we can get to fight this. Hope all is well with everyone ..... And if you have any supplement successes, stories, etc., please share!

L-Glut is making a big difference...

Funnily enough I was looking at it today in the health food shop and wondering whether to take the plunge. Although I have been AF for 44 days and its going great, I am planning a period of 4 days of modding for a short holiday in 10 days and I wondered if I should reinforce with L Glut. Your post comes at a pivotal moment. Do I try or not. I do take kudzu but only one from the health food store which may not be as strong as the one off of here.

Do I will think some more, any other replies as to its affectiveness will help me too

Thanks for thread, really pleased its working

            Hi Cat,
That's funny that you mentioned this because I just ordered L-Glut last week and am waiting for it. I also ordered more kudzu and whenever it is a drinking day, I plan to take both to keep the consumption to a moderate level.

L-glut made a huge difference for me. When I began to take it regularly I was amazed to get to a Friday of all things and have no desire to drink AL. I still take it along with All One and probably will continue to do so until the package runs out -- then I'll see what happens and whether or not I can continue without it. If not, I'll go for another round rather than go back to cravings!

I've been taking L-Glut for three weeks, even on the weekends during Mod. I take two 500 mg capsules, three times a day. Plus Kudzu twice per day. It's not so drastic of an "feeling" impact, in my case, but more subtly noticing that, contrary from when I began going AF during M-F, I don't think about drinking so naturally anymore. Almost like I'm "full" feeling but not in the tummy...if that makes any sense. That and lots of water (seltzer's my poison now) help get me along.

I would like to point out that L-glut isn't something only useful for staving off alcohol cravings. If you might have noticed, it is often sold near the protein mixes, etc. for really active athletic people. L-glut is the most prevalent amino acid in the body and it helps to stabilize sugar levels. I read that it helps your body retain glucose levels when expending lots of energy. So, I see it as a direct supplementation of the sugar that becomes absent as soon as you quit drinking.

I can see how this would abate alcohol cravings because it minimizes that yucky feeling when your sugar level tanks after you quit. Naturally, a person would otherwise consider another drink to ease that discomfort. But with L-glut, the discomfort is hardly as pronounced. For me, I used to begin feeling shaky, glassy eyed, exhausted, etc. after quitting for several hours. I was afraid to quit. When taking this L-glut, hardly any of that stuff happened when I stopped last week.

I think L-glut is useful even just as a daily vitamin for a healthy person. Don't be afraid to take it. It supplements the natural substance already present in your body.

Would the L-glut make it hard for one to lose weight? You seem to know alot about the supp.

I can't say I know a whole lot about it, but I have read lots of articles by doctors who explain the benefits of taking it. I'd suggest that you do a google search, something like "L-glutamine and weight loss." I imagine you'll find what you need.

It is my understanding though, that it facilitates the transition between dependence on the simple sugars provided by alcohol, by helping to stabilize sugar levels when eating complex carbohydrates, etc. So, I'd stay away from simple sugars like high fructose cornsyrup and stuff, the so-called empty calories, and I would imagine that you would lose weight, being that those empty calories from alcohol cause much of the weight gain people complain about.

It's good stuff, so I'm gonna take it even when I don't think I need to.
