Relxation techniques - not craving related
Hello, this is my first post in this forum and I'm in desparate need of some advice. I am a long term eczma sufferer and have lately had a very severe flare. Upon reading a book on the subject I have discovered that stress is a key factor and as such I am in desparate need of advice on relaxation techniques - Any advice on meditation and positive attitudes are especially appreciated. If anybody who views this thread also has advice on herbal medications and supplements available to me I would greatly appreicate it. Many thanks,

Hi TG, evening primrose oil is often prescribed for eczema...
I know there are online meditations, I guess you could find them if you google them..
WIP did a meditation thread too. Not sure if she deleted it. I'll have a look and bump it if I find it.
I get eczema too, mine is from allergies, but stress certainly wouldnt help.Living now and not just existing since 9th July 2008

Cheers for the advice, I tried the evening primrose oil but taking it made me feel sick and I couldn't eat breakfast comfortably. I'm looking into whether allergies could cause mine, but every doctor I see refuses me an allergy test so it's difficult to know. I have an appointment with a specialist, but this is really a stop-gap solution to get me through the 6 week waiting list. The way I change the past is by not repeating it

I went through all that too, in the end I was on steroids so much and feeling so ill with lack of sleep I demanded they refer me to an allergist. They had referred me to dermatologists that were no good before...
There are not many allergists in the country either. But you really need to insist...I had skin prick tests done eventually and they identified my allergies..Living now and not just existing since 9th July 2008

TG, Dairy and Wheat were mine, plus animals and house dust mites..
I strictly stayed off dairy and wheat for 2 years, got rid of carpets, kept the dogs downstairs etc and eventually my body settled down...I can eat dairy and wheat now...Living now and not just existing since 9th July 2008

I had eczema real bad for years. I'd get a shot of Kennelog when it was really bad. Cleared it up real fast. I'm not too sure about the spelling. I also used lubiderm lotion right after a shower and still damp. It finally went away thank God. Good luckStarting over again

Starty - Damn, dairy AND wheat? that's got to suck, so far the allergies I'm near-certain of are: dust mites, pollen, pollution (car pollution = sudden itch attacks), and most fragranced soaps and cosmetics. I'm giving up dairy at the minute to see if that helps, I'm half hoping it doesn't, I miss normal chocolate xDThe way I change the past is by not repeating it

TG, dust mites are so common in allegies..
Do you damp dust? Have anti dust mite mattress, duvet and pillow covers? Remove as much soft furnishing like carpet and curtains from your house as poss, vac daily, and keep ornamements etc to a minimum.
I did all this and more and I cannot tell you the difference it made to me....Living now and not just existing since 9th July 2008

Have you tried Goats Milk Soap? It is the best for Excema.
I had it so bad when I was a baby, it would crack and bleed. My mother actually had me on Goats Milk. I wasn't to have anything acidic such as orange/apple juice etc.
I have since LONG out grown it (Thank God) I still have to watch the acid levels in many foods - I can eat them; just not in large quantities.
Drinking wine gives me patches of excema at times. Especially on my chin.
You won't smell like a goat either, using the soap. It actually has a great smell to it. I use it on my little one as she was breaking out in patches of excema with the other commercial products. It has since cleared up and stayed cleared..
