    30 Sugar Free Day's

Sorry Pamina, I have made reference to coffee too! Just read an article about Candida Albicans and it suggests cutting out Sugars and Coffee.....

      30 Sugar Free Day's

Uh-oh, I TANKED last night! 'Was doing really well during the day -- made some chicken/veggie soup and just nibbled it all day. Then I got a massive craving for choc. sorbet that would not go away. 'Tried L-Glut, to no avail. Went to the EFT web site, viewed the instructional video, and tapped my head whilst the dog looked on with great curiousity. Took a walk, did some laundry, and still this little voice whispered, "Sorrrrr-betttt...It's Sunnnn-dayyyy..." So finally, after aboout 3 hours, I caved. Didn't have a lot -- 3/4 cup, and I did forgoe the evening cocoa, but I'm amazed at how my willpower just went bye-bye.

So today, I'm back on the Sugar Wagon. [Sigh]

Amelia -- that is EXACTLY why I began this thread! Honestly. I noticed when I quit smoking that I would just eat and eat and eat. It was like I could never truly fill the emptiness in me.
And with it so did my craving for AL increase. I felt myself slip sliding all the way back to where I was a year ago which is why I really, REALLY want to nip this in the bud now.
There is definetly a link between sugar and AL cravings.

LilBit, I think you are being way too harsh on yourself. Sure you had 3/4 of a cup of sorbet but you then forgoe you evening ritual of hot cocoa in leui of it -- which I think deserves a huge pat on the back.
Reward yourself for your success and learn from your mistakes.
(P.S. I crapped myself when i read you got "tanked" LOL)

          Afternoon Sugar-busters!!
Well, so far so good, I must say.
I would've thought that not having my morning coffee would be a big issue for me but it hasn't - VERY suprised.
One thing I have noticed is that my tummy is grumbling early in the morning which is not like me. Normally I don't eat until after tea which is 9:30am. I have managed to eat every 2 hours today and I can definetly feel my energy levels are up and constant.

Brinjals are Aubergines/Eggplant..... can't remember who asked but I've been meaning to reply.

I am reading a book called "SuperFoods" and one of the 12 super foods listed is TOMATOES. This is such an easy to eat veg and one of the few where the tinned variety is better for us than the fresh.
"in the raw tomatoe, the lycopene is bound into the cell walls and fibre. Processing breaks down the cell walls and free's the lycopene to be absorbed by the body. Ounce for ounce, processed tomato products and cooked tomatoes contain two to eight times the available lycopene of raw tomatoes. While processing does diminish the levels of vitamin C in the tomatoes it elevates the total antioxidant activity, thus ultimately providing an enhanced benefit"

I wanted to share this story about Michael who about 2 years ago, made a major decision that changed the direction of his life.
            He's a young adult cancer survivor - Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
He also took the 30 Day SF (Sugar-Free) Challenge and writes about his experience on his blog.
I just love the way he describes Mind Frick -- how true.

Havent' read the thread, but just wanted to say hi. I'll probably join in. I need to ditch the coffee. I miss my tea, and not just the tea, the ritual.

In case it hasn't been mentioned, sugar also feeds cancer cells.

Deebs, did you find the juice post I had about juices that help with sugar cravings?

Thank you, Starts! That was just the look I was aiming for.

The "Mind Frick" was very funny and so true, Deebs. Most challenges are this way -- if you just go ahead and do them, they're not as big a deal as they looked. (I say that humbly, with only a whopping 3 SF days behind me, knowing that it may come back to bite me.) When it was time for the evening cocoa last night, I wasn't in the mood, so I just went to bed without it. Somehow, it seems that sugar makes me want more sugar, and when I don't have any, the cravings aren't as bad.

Yes, I did thanks Greenie -- I was so hoping you would join YAY!!!
I had a super green smoothie as my snack this morning -- Pineapple, banana, apple juice, spirulina, barley grass, wheat grass ... and it wasn't half bad.

LilBit, I want to jump for joy when I hear you say that!! "when I don't have any, the cravings aren't as bad"!!!
I am now viewing the white stuff like I tackled nicotine -- there is no such thing as just one puff for me -- I have to quit it totally, 100%, never have it again!!

The craving is probably along the lines of the low carb thing and ketosis. When you give your body a blast of sugar, it does set off a craving reaction that isn't your imagingation. Remind you of something else? :H

Still Lurking - my toaster exploded with my fruit toast in it this morning - maybe its a sign. I did eat a lot of sweet stuff when I went AF initially, but I am looking at what I eat, and there is a lot of hidden sugar there.

My sympathies for your toaster Betts:l

Crazy how much "hidden" sugar we eat each day.

Hi all. I'm really tired today (monthly cramps) and just lost my post. :upset: The good thing about being woozy is you don't want to eat. The mind frick story was spot on. I'm having one of those about the prospect of exercising. Thanks for the hidden sugar link, DB, I'll check it out once I'm conscious again.

Oh my....you people are getting to me, in a GOOD way.

Not only did I ride my bike to work today, I also packed my rucksack with healthy foods to nibble on all day long...

Grapes, nuts, cheese, and vegetable juice. Look at her go...whhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

I haven't gotten 100% away from grains yet but have cut out ALL sweets and that was a biggie for me.

I have had a headache in the afternoons the last couple days too, which I know is my body detoxing off the sugar. But you know, knowing that is what is happening makes the pain a bit more bearable, it's like a SIGN that the toxins are leaving so I don't mind so much.

I also hopped on the scale and have lost a pound already. Good times! Hope everyone is doing well.

Sorry about your toaster Betty!! :H
