    tiredness

    Hey everyone,

I am on day 22 AF and was wondering if anyone had experienced ongoing tiredness in the afternoon/early evening. Have been eating well and taking the supplements (and then some). Also, at about 7.30-8.00 every night I start feeling fluey (don't at all during the day) and this goes by the next morning. Wake up feeling really groggy and fuzzy for about 1/2 an hour after having sleeping sooooooooooooooo well.

Just wondering if this gets better soon as I am so tired and am getting tired of it!!!!!
    Thanks
    Luba:thanks:

    Hi Luba,

Might sound silly, but are you drinking enough water?
Drinking water can actually boost your metabolism and energy levels.

I was tired for a long time after going AF. It just took time for me. DeeBee has good advice though. Keep up the good work.

Me too when i stopped, all i wanted to do was sleep.
The body is repairing itself. Very common to be tired when we stop drinking.
Then came the not sleeping problem.

:goodjob: I was tired too...it will pass...do not give up or you will have to go through the whole process again. The hangover lasts longer than the buzz and what you are going through are bumps on the path to freedom. Go for it!.

Thanks for your support everyone - I have been looking through all the threads and I think a lot of it is to do with the massive amounts of sugar I have been eating - have tried cutting back today and have already noticed an improvement this evening. Will let you know. Thanks, Luba

              Sugar!!
It has also been the bane of my life.
Try going 30 days sugar free (including all hidden sugars) and you are sure to see your energy levels increase.

                Aloha All:

I'm tired and afraid of what I am becoming!!!!! I really need the help and encouragement of this site! It's refreshing to see that I'm not the only one suffering from this illness!

I see the link between alcohol and sugar and like the idea of getting both out of my life. I plan of taking each day with baby steps so that my life isn't consumed with the guilt and fear I live with.

I was tired for a long time too when I quit drinking. I think its the body repairing itself too. Let yourself rest as much as possible plus looking after your diet and exercise habits too.

Hi Maui, getting sober really is a wonderful thing to do. The support here is wonderful. Read and post as much as you can. It will help you...

You're doing great, Luba! Keep at it!

                    Maui,
Great to see you. Small steps sounds like a plan. When i stopped poisoning myself with booze, all guilt, fear, anxiety went away almost immediately, and was replaced with increasing self esteem, self confidence, and self respect. Go for it!

                        Aloha All:

Well...day 2 of AF and no sugar, which seem to go hand in hand. Sleeping like a baby and went and got some supplements I have used in the past and seem to work.

My goal last week was to walk 14 miles and quit drinking. I actually walked 16.2 miles and quit drinking on Saturday. Poured the last of my wine down the sink and said, enough is enough. I always seem to have an excuse for "Starting Monday", then I polish off a bottle of wine on Sunday, and think, how am I ever going to make it through Monday without a drink.

I can wake up tomorrow and be proud that I am on my way to being sober and on to day 3!

Thanks for the support! This site and people are so awesome!

Day 3 and still feeling tired. I did up my water intake and that seemed to help along with more frequent mini-meals to keep my metabolism up.
