    Benefits of L-Glutamine

Yes, glutamine helps many people with carb cravings and alcohol which is just suped up sugars. When you remove alcohol from the diet, the cookie monster appears. Many of us who never had sweet tooths developed terrible carb/sugar cravings without the alcohol. Take the smallest effective dose for you. Some people need alot, some feel sick on alot, so I'd recommend starting slowly.

How much would be starting slowly? How often?

        Benefits of L-Glutamine

I would see if 1000mg AM and PM worked. Do it on a day when you're not heavily committed to anything - some people are sensitive to it while most aren't and can take 10grams with no noticeable impact.

For me, taking 5grams/day or more really screwed up my brain, but it took me a few days to figure out that I was addled only since starting the glutamine. Its effect on me was subtle but had a big punch, if that makes any sense. Its like PMS, you don't realize that you're becoming a monster until you're fully engulfed. My ADD flared and then as I was googling frantically for reasons/causes, I saw glutamine, immediately stopped it, and a day or two later was able to focus again.

I was taking it for cravings and for GI healing.

Len, I should not have called them studies, thanks for pointing out that mistake. They were posted articles online.

I am still struggling with the sugars thing but am now worried about the idea of this screwing with my brain. I will give it a go tho and start low.

If you get a lot of exercise you should not have problems with the l-glut as it would get burned off in the muscles before it accumulates in the brain. A few thousand per day is safe unless you are confined to bed 24/7!!!

Let's face it folks, even oxygen is toxic at high doses - as is water!!!! Moderation in everything (except booze for certain people) is usually the way to go!! Common sense has been lost in all the scare tactics of the modern media stories.
Ask yourselves, would you rather be a non drinker with an occasional desire to drink or a drinker with a constant desire to stop doing it?

Any tips as for timing...when should I take it? Will it contribute or relieve insomnia? I, too have ADD, and am taking something for that, and don't want L-Glut to interfere, so I'll start with 1 gram/day.
Well the 1st are the hardest days don't you worry anymore.

Omg, I just got the powder, finally, from iHerb. I had ten grams. I just realized I had forgotten to have a drink! Often, I will sneak a beer mid- afternoon. And here it is, seven pm! Powder is definitely better than the capsules.

Dfrom CT, I don't think it affects insomnia. YMMV. Doubt it will affect your ADD drug but what do I know.

So much of this is experimentation and watching the signs.

I bought another tub of it. I don't know why. It did not help me even recover from exercise. Oh well, tastes ok in a glass of water.

Side note, stinging nettles extract 2x day for at least a month helped my allergies! You have to do it every day an stick to it.

Cider vinegar helped a bit with my reflux. A bit. Back on the omeprazole as I have been for 20+ years.

So, I was wondering if the L-Glut would help with both the carb and AL craving.

                      Thanks!
Ask your doctor. I am on meds for bipolar and don't take anything ( natural or not ) without consulting a doc. I took lexapro once but can't remember carb cravings - The day after drinking was the big carb crave for me. Now I've been AF or bout 20 days - stopped counting as it didn't help me in any way - have lost about 4 kgs with no lifestyle change except no AL. No sugar cravings or carb cravings....maybe I am just lucky dunno. But back to first point - ask doctor.

L-glute powder tough to choke down...idea

Ok so this AM I was going to increase my L-glute from 1 to 3 tsp 2x daily. I was taking 1 tsp with Emergen-c and water. Wasn't too hard to tke but because l-glute does not dissolve the bottom was always yucky. So seeing as I want to increase it I mixed it into Dannon Okios yogurt (lime yum) well I have to say ....not bad! There is a little "grit" when your teeth come together ( kind of like when you have your teeth cleaned...I' m a hygienist:H) but all in all pretty easy going down. I hope that helps anyone having a hard time taking it!
                        Have a great AF day!

One thing to take in, I think that Emergen C is probably not worth the money. It's just powdered ascorbic acid. It's good that it makes you drink some more water. The other vitamins are just more synthesized mess.

Better to get a multi mutivitamin made with natural ingredients.

For the Vit C. I like it combined with rose hips for better absorption and it's cheaper that way.

                          Just my 2 cents.

On I am on my 2nd bucket of Glut and hope this works out better for me.

Thanks for your feedback. It is tough to mix. I use a small whisk.

Oh I know the Emergen-c is pricey but it's good for travel, like work and such. Are you seeing benefits from using it? I do notice a decrease in sweet and carb cravings.

I agree. Emergen c is good for travel. Always have a few packets in my kit.

I have not had luck with Glut but I am going to try another tub and see what happens. I need to stick with it and see.

I am on baclofen so it might not be fair. I have not had a luck with a drop on carb and sugar cravings though.

It's funny I don't always get the same reaction from the l-glute. Sometimes it helps to curb cravings and other times I can "drink" right through it even with Kudzu. I'm almost thinking for me it is like mind over matter. You know? I guess I need to use more willpower
