      THE WATER THREAD

For those of you who might crave hot drinks in the winter, I've turned to hot water with lemon in it. I still have my one daily cup of coffee but I find the hot water comforting (maybe because I know it's better for me!)
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

          Hullo folks,

My girlfriend turned me on to an amazing drink. When I want something to soothe and relax my nerves, or just give me a feel good high, I now reach for my ....gasp 2% MILK!

I have been drinking skim or 1% a long time due to cholesterol, fat, calories, etc.
Didn't taste all that great so I didn't drink much.

My lovely, middle of the road, practical, funny, warm girlfriend once again gifted me with her wisdom.
I decided that I would accept her offer of a brownie for breakfast. I was shocked when she said, "why don't you have a nice cold glass of milk with it?". Whole milk no less.
I went for it. Wow, I'd forgotten how good milk can be. Whole was like a milkshake!

Now I have it warm at night for my relaxing drink, (actually poured my wine into hubby's glass) I wanted milk more!

Icy cold with a cookie or pb &j at lunch.
Now I have a habit that might just plump me up or my cholesterol...but actually does a lot of wonderful things.
So simple. I really do want to learn all I can here about nutrition and body chemicals.
          My little offering...well Linda's actually!
          Cheers,
          Roly

Why would anybody really want to do that I wonder? I think that's going over-board with the water anyway. I read somewhere that you don't have to drink as much of the stuff as some people preach. One thing to consider though is that some teas have more caffeine in them than coffee so it that isn't necessarily a good way to cut down on caffeine.

I found a scrap of soputhern Living magazine I saved (about the same time I found a nice tall, slender glass pitcher). It's about flavoring water with slices of citrus or cucumber and a sprig of fresh herb. I filled the pitcher with water and the lemon/rosemary combo and have it in the fridge.

              These are the combo suggestions:
              lemon & thyme
              lemon & rosemary
              cucumber & thyme
              orange & lime

Having a new alternative to drink is always nice.

When I've detoxed before, I'd use a tea kettle and steep 4 tea bags (total) of Detox Tea (preferably Peach) with 2 bags of Camomile and put Stevia in it and maybe a little lemon. Each day I drank the whole bottle.

I hope I can get out tomorrow to get these supplies.
