    30 Days with One-Moment Meditation®

Stress is a huge trigger (for me) to pour a glass of wine and use it pretend my worries don't exist (ostrich syndrome!). I am always looking out for new tools and methods to help me manage my stress levels and I firmly believe that meditation plays an important role in this.
I did a 90 sit last year with another member from MWO and during that time learnt how to meditate the hard way. Since then I've been very slack in making meditation a part of my daily life, although I do do it twice a week during deep relaxation at yoga, I don't know if it's the same thing.

I came across this 30 day program on the Oprah website and will begin the program tomorrow the 1st of April. I hope there are others that might join me?

DB - I'm happy to give it a go with you! I''ve never had much success with meditation/relaxation etc etc but I know that it is a tool that others find useful. Whenever I have tried in the past I just end up feeling bored. A minute a day sounds like something manageable that I could stick to ....... and may be get a insight into what it is that works!

I'll definitely give it a go DeeBee. I found meditation helpful when I first stopped drinking but it's fallen by the wayside since.

Tried it before work. Funny how it's always difficult for me to get into. Supposed to focusing on breathing and I found I was listening to the birds singing outside and thinking about what I have to do at work today.
Peaceful, though! I'll give it another go tonight.

                DeeBee,
Just checked out the site and completed the one minute meditation. Cool! Thanks for finding this and sharing. I am always interested in subject matter like this and love the Oprah site. I don't watch her show anymore as I work too many hours, but she is so open to so many things.

The time went really quickly for me. If thoughts go through your mind, just gently observe them and watch them float away. It is all OK. Isn't it interesting how are minds are always thinking? Learning to not think is an art.

Well, I checked the Oprah site when I got up this morning but due to our time difference the first lesson hadn't been posted yet so I'll begin the first lesson tomorrow morning.

                  Good going Star!

I'll try it! Stress is huge for me, too. I've been discouraged, wondering why I had been improving so much and then totally backslid, and I think it's simply because I'm way too busy and falling back on the old bad habit instead of using new, better ones - partly because I think I don't have time, but taking care of my mental health is so much more important than making sure the house is clean, etc...particularly when I take on too much and then drink too much - anyway, I can fit in a minute! Thanks so much!

You are SO right SomeoneE. We just HAVE to make time for ourselves, we are worth it!!
I just got back from the shops and bought myself the coolest silver egg timer only to get home, open it up and discover it doesn't work! ARGH! How frustrating. I'll have to think of another plan to time myself in the morning.
                      How is everyone doing it??

I received the link to download the free seminar from Martin Boroson, (the author of the book) this morning -- this is well worth listening to as he guides you through the first session.

I found it amazing how long one minute can feel like when meditating but one minute flies by when we aren't.
He also had a good suggestion on how to handle external noise -- we don't always have a perfectly quiet environment which I personally find very distracting when I'm trying to meditate.
