L-glut is indeed very good for the digestive system. However, 500mg per day will not likely make a difference. I take 5grams in the morning (powder mixed with water -- this is the most effective and economical way), and 5grams mid-afternoon. I have read and heard several places that up to 20gram a day is fine. Yes, I mean grams.

My digstive system stabilized after a few weeks of 15gram per day, then I went down to 10 (2x5), but I often forget the mid-afternoon one.

As for cravings, I don't think I have noticed much of an effect, but many people do, so that's a big bonus.

However, I have been made to understand that doses have to be pretty high to have an effect.

Also, please remember that l-glut (and most aminos) should be taken on an empty stomach with a little juice.

I also think acidophilus is very helpful for most people (it is not an herb, but actually a probiotic -- bacteria that aid in digestion.)

    For more about l-glut:

I hope you are feeling better soon!

        Beatle,

I misspoke on the acidophilus being an herb as opposed to pro-biotic. You are right. I take L-Glut. 9,000 mg. per day....3 doses when I wake up, mid-afternoon and before bed. You are right on the cravings....I only see a minimal effect but it helps curb my appetite.

Techie, thanks so much for the info. on chia. I had never heard of it before.

Rusty, after reading your thread yesterday I searched and searched here for some old threads on the subject that helped me. I do think it is important to detox our bodies when getting off the AL. I got some excellent advice here about cleansing. What I did do was use this OxyPowder and it really does work. It is kind of expensive, so I don't do it regularly, but I try to a couple of times a year. I also did a salt water cleanse, which worked great if you can drink a gallon of salt water. Now my compounding pharmacist recommended I take the probiotic "Florajen 3" and this keeps me regular. It is Acidaphilus, Bifidum, and Longum.

Anyway, here is a link to the Oxypowder. Enjoy your colonic!

            LV25,

Thank you sooo much for the info. and your total unselfishness and time in reading through my previous posts. You are ao kind. I am going to get that Oxypowder because I had heard of it before but thought it was a kind of scam. I am now AF but I know my bloated, overweight body is still full of AL-laden poison. I do take Florajen 3 and that is so helpful.

I was debating whether to mention that a detox program my Doc recommends includes a coffee enema protocol. But I was thinking maybe that's too gross to bring up. Then I come across G's tactful post! :H

                    Hi

Well .... I wont go into to much detail but one thing for certain is this bloody colon of mine is a stubborn one!!! what should have been a 30-40 min proceedure went on for 1 hr 20 min!! I survived with a little discomfort but for most of it it was just a strange feeling until you get used to it. She had to use alot of reflexology and stomach massaging to get things moving and she added alot of herbs into the water which also seemed to help after a while....... for the past 8 hours I have had a continous headache and stomach cramps like you would not believe, I'm assuming this is alot of toxins coming out - I am drinking lots of water to try and ease the headache as I don't want to take any tablets. hoping to feel better tomorrow.

It must be working though everytime I get up to walk I have to run to the bathroom

Her advice is to definately up the L-glut and milk thistle and a must with the flaxseeds/linseeds. Also to switch my diet to add alot of beans (caneloni, kidney etc) oh and nuts ..and to do alot of walking - also to have another two proceedures over the next 6 weeks.

Well heres hoping I feel better tomorrow!!
