    Paleo Diet Diary

    Ok, after some more reading online, I think I'll hop on board. I'd like to give this a try - it certainly makes a whole lot more sense than many other diet recommendations I've seen.

    Now, I won't COMPLETELY stick to it... I love my bread too much. I AM German, after all :H
    For me this is mostly about healthier choices, but also a little about weight loss. 5lbs of chocolates over the holidays tend to take a toll. So, I will try and ease myself into this.

    So, today is day one. I weigh 142.6lbs

    Breakfast:
    1/2 piece of toast with a tiny bit of butter and wild blueberry jam
    1 grape fruit

    Lunch:
    1 slice German rye bread with tuna salad (tuna, eggs, celery, mayo)
    1 yoghurt

    Dinner:
    Fresh Cod fillet (baked in lemon/butter)
    Brussel sprouts

    And, I made a salad with baby greens, tomato, carrot, and egg - which both, Mr. Wonderful and I were too full to eat. :H

    Good job Sunshine!!

    I love the rye bread, and the baked cod with lemon and butter! I'm a German girl too!!

    The grapefruit, however....that sounds too much like a diet to me. I have to eat more exotic fruits to feel happy about it -- I got a papaya at the market yesterday which I'll cut up and try to eat over the next few days.

        I just tackled an Elk and had a feed. Damn they're fast!
        Outside of a dog a book is mans best friend. Inside of a dog its too dark to read

            Oh oh oh... AND I went for a good hour hike through the woods with the domesticated wolf!
            Mylife... I actually really like grapefruit... got a whole bag of red Texas grapefruit 50% off! Whoohoo! But I hear you on the exotics, too... I also secured a nice pineapple

            Det, thank you... but where the HELL do you get coconut flour? Or coconut oil??? Certainly not on my little island in the middle of nowhere! I'm lucky to get peanut oil It was rather interesting to read that you should NOT ever cook with olive oil... did not know that.

            Ahem... I suppose I should add 2 cookies and a few candy canes to today's list, too :blush:

              Sunshine, here's the EVCO I use: Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil 54 oz Liquid - Swanson Health Products

              yam fries sauteed in coconut oil is to freaking DIE FOR! my new fav comfort food.

              and you can find coconut flour at any whole foods market (at least my local one).

              I still use olive oil for cooking some Mediterranean classics but mostly enjoy it uncooked drizzled on my foods (really tastes best that way anyway).

                Day Two

                Breakfast:
                1 Grapefruit

                Lunch:
                1/2 tuna sandwich (1 slice rye bread)
                1 hard boiled egg
                1 apple

                Dinner:
                Roast Chicken
                Green Beens
                Salad (Baby greens, carrot, tomato)

                Snacks: Pineapple, hard boiled egg

                Det... I have 3 grocery stores within 45 minutes driving distance (and they all have the same stuff) - there's no such thing as health food store, etc. I may have to try and find something online. The next 'city' is over 2 hours away and even that's still just a Northern mining town by most people's standards.

                I've been extremely blah today (mind you I slep worth sh*t last night - again) and have not exercised. Will do better tomorrow.

                  Day Three

                  Breakfast:
                  1 Grapefruit
                  1 hard boiled egg

                  Lunch:
                  2 tuna salad sandwiches (buns, no less)

                  Dinner:
                  1 Chicken salad wrap (chicken, roasted nuts, raisins, celery, apple, mayo)

                  NO cookies. A few candy canes, though.

                  No exercise, again.

                    Pork Tenderloin
                    Carrots

                    Snacks:
                    1 Slice Pineapple
                    1 hard boiled egg
                    3 cookies

                    Exercise:
                    Short walk with dog, loading/unloading 3 50lb feed bags

                        what a great thread, Sunshine!
                        I get coconut oil and flour, etc, is from Vitacost. My favorite brand is Nutiva.
                        And if you look online, you can find recipes for Paleo brownies, ice cream, everything! oops, just saw Det posted info about all this. I might just try making bread!
                        for me, weight loss was somewhat slow, but now my jeans and my favorite shorts are all just too big on me! (I started this summer)
                        so, the yogurt is full fat, right? isn't that fun? And I use heavy cream in my coffee!
