Just bought L-Glut in capsule form - is it worth it?
Hi all, from what I have read tonight, maybe I should return the bottle of expensive L-Glut capsules I bought at the health food store today and exchange it for the powdered form. The gist of what I am hearing is the capsules don't work near as well as the powder. Can I have a few comments please? The health food store is a half hour drive from me so I would rather not but if the capsules are next to useless then I should exchange them. For the record I am a half bottle of red wine a day tippler. Thanks for any feedback.

I don't think they are useless. I can't see what the difference is if you are taking equivalent potency. It's just a gelatine capsule and should have no hinderance to absorption. And yo can always open the capsule and dump the powder under your tongue. Look at the cost of the powder in comparison and decide if you think it is worth your trouble. Try VitaCost on-line. I get several things from them and find they have very good prices.sigpic

THanks Greeneyes. While perusing the threads I got a little concerned by all the negative comments about the capsules compared to the powder but I might as well try them to form my own opinion.Tipplerette

The powder is usually far, far more economical. Also, it dissolves in water, so it gets ingested more quickly.
The capsules can be good for traveling, though.
I take 5gr 2-3xday, so the price difference between caps and powder is huge for me. (The powder is very inexpensive and effective).
How about keeping the caps for travel and buying the powder for everyday?
(Plus, I like the way the powder tastes in cold water -- it has a slightly sweet, fresh taste.)Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... You can buy tubs of the powdered stuff through the internet. I have bought different brands from different sites. The costs are pretty much the same.Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. I've only ever taken the capsules, and they worked for me. I took them three times a day (1,000-1,500 mg per dose), between meals.Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our mind ~ Bob Marley ~ Redemption Song

Well, I took a 1000 mg capsule last night and did not think about wine except a passing thought that it may be suggested by hubby as I made a great beef and broccoli stir fry for dinner. Drank Celestial Seasonings Candy Cane Tea instead. My mind did NOT keep drifting to that half bottle of wine sitting on the counter. No chance of seduction last night.
For those of you trying to lose a bit of weight I found this supplement called PGX from a Canadian written diet book called "The Vice-Busting Diet". The premise of the book is to give up your fat causing vices one at a time in order to see gradual weight loss. The author, Julia Harvey toots this supplement as it is a water-soluble source of fibre that actually lowers the Glycemic index of consumed foods. I took it last night just before dinner and put less food on my plate. You have to drink lots of water with it as it attracts many times it's weight in water which then sits in your stomach giving you the full feeling very quickly. It also really helps with stabilizing blood sugar levels and with the epidemic of diabetes, it's worth looking into. It also takes care of any constipation one might be dealing with as long as you drink lots of water with it. I will repost this in the fitness section.Tipplerette
