Is L Glutamine meant to make you feel like this/like you just took Ecstacy?

I decided to finally try L-Glutamine. I just took 1500 mg of it in capsule form. I feel really "high" in a pleasant way. Is that normal? Took it on an empty stomach. Never taken it before.

yep it did that to me too. you might want to start with 500mg and work your way up. The effect wears off after taking it for about 10 days. I kinda liked it.

Well, this is news. I happened to have just taken 3000mg, usually take 1000, so this will be interesting. Never used E.

I don't suppose that E feeling will keep me AF this week if I get it? (I can shoot for the stars, can't I?)

LMAO. I honestly feel like I'm on "drugs". Maybe I should go to a nightclub and try to dance off the high. I will DEFINITELY go for a lower dose next time. This is hilarious.

I haven't come 'down' yet. Hopefully I will soon. I had some green tea to try to snap me out of it but the caffeine just made me even crazier. I wonder why people even bother to pursue illegal recreational drugs when they could just get this wasted on L-Glutamine:H

it took me 12 hours the first time to come off of 500 mg. Keep taking it though. It does wonders for your mood if nothing else!

I just saw this thread- I was going to just post about l-glutamine, how ironic-
Well, I started taking it a couple days ago and -wham- my craving was gone- is it a placebo effect? How does this work? If it keeps working like this then any thoughts of trying antabuse or campral-are out the window.

Wow! And stupid me when I woke up this morning still feeling totally wasted I thought I could calm down by taking ANOTHER 500mg of it so that is what I did. :nutso:ops!:

I've been taking 1000 mg of L-glut for 4 days now and I do seem to feel less anxious about drinking. I've got baclofen but I drive for a living and I'm nervous trying it. I've found that if I take the L-glutamine a few hours before my normal craving cycle begins, it definitely helps. I've never taken E so I have no idea but I don't really feel different other than the increased indifference. Going to buy some kudzu today, any suggestions from experience on when to dose that - with the glut? seperate? time of day? I have Roberta's cheat sheet and was going to look that up, but I wanted to know what practical experience has shown us.

Nico, the only relevant Kudzu info I've retained is that many people have great results with the MWO version, and less success with other brands. Must be a quality thing, so buy good quality.

Reporting back, the L-glut did not make me high, darn it. I AM having trouble focusing and thinking though, always a wonderful thing at work! :H

fluff-the L-glut takes my cravings away but not my thoughts, it is an amino acid and it reduces the bodies need for sugar i.e. alcohol. I thought it was the placebo effect also but I've been taking it for 2 months and it really helps.

yo breaking if you look l-glut up it s a muscle inhancer my kid was surprised i was taking it i take up to 3000 mg a day,every once in a while i miss taking it, it is a drug,as far as i no its a substitute to toer med s for withdrawl

Jenny- true- but the fact that my cravings are diminished has made my obsessive thoughts-lessen- so, it's not an overwhelming desire to drink...it has become easier to not drink...
I'm just wondering if there any adverse side effects- so I think I will research that a bit...

Fluff-I have found not adverse side effects at all

Bruunhilde-never had a problem with it keeping me awake.
