    The Benefits of Coconut Oil

    Hi FreeFly,

If you google candida and spit test you will find some illustrations. Basically, you spit in a glass of water and watch to see how the spit dissipates. If it has long tendril-like strings dangling toward the bottom of the glass, then that would tend to indicate candida. It is pretty easy to find a picture online.

                The Benefits of Coconut Oil

Hey you guys thanks for the reminder about the oil pulling. I just got 15 minutes done and it wasn't too bad. I can't eat the stuff but cook with it and I also take a tablespoon of MCT oil every morning with my cod liver oil. I must try to get up to 3 tbs of the MCT per day as that's the best dose for real health, so I've read. I eat very low carb and find the oils and good fats keep my weight down and my appetite satisfied. Now that I'm getting the alcohol OUT of my life I expect good things to happen! I sure don't need that sugar hit anymore, to say nothing about all the other stuff that poison does.
Ask yourselves, would you rather be a non drinker with an occasional desire to drink or a drinker with a constant desire to stop doing it?

                      The Benefits of Coconut Oil

Oh, it's so funny...that saying "when the student is ready the teacher will appear". This thread never peaked my interest before because I was into processed foods, doing low fat dairy, etc. Was at Sprouts one day (a store in many states that carries organic veggies, etc.) and happened upon a book written by a nutritionist called "The Science of Skinny". The writer is a chemist and nutritionist and the book changed my life. We started going process free immediately after reading the book and yes, she is an advocate of coconut oil and explains why it's better. Also, I was into fat free dairy and she made me realize that they are replacing the fat with sugar! Plus, think of fat-soluble vitamins. They need fat! So when we go to the low fat stuff we are losing vital nutrients. We have meet-ups in my state where like minded people gather together. Actually went to a raw food meet-up as we've been incorporating more raw food in our new diet plan. Only a very few were completely into raw. People were at various stages yet nonjudgmental as to whether others were as advanced or not. It was wonderful. One of the most amazing things I felt that particular night was feeling so naturally high on the conversations and fellow ship and it was of course all AL free. Some good lemon water served. Anyway, so glad to find this thread going on with other folks (many names that I know) of other health minded folks. *see* you all around and let's share our better eating lifestyles.

                        Hi Eve,
Good to see you here. I've been on various diets due to my GERD, and now eat lower carbs which is better than the low fat diets that doctors recommend. It is all a discovery process.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

                          The Benefits of Coconut Oil

I'm bumping up this thread on a topic I was talking about with a friend yesterday.

Coconut oil is one of those amazing, under-appreciated gifts of nature.
It can be used for almost any type body care you need. I use it inside and out! I'll spare you TMI but let's just say, I LOVE THIS STUFF.

Plus, food cooked with it is delicious.

Any other coconut oil devotees out there?

                            NoSugar,

Just discovered it as one of the best oils for cooking. Awesome! Do you use it on your skin as well and if so, when (nighttime before bed)?

                                NS,

Thanks. Look forward to hearing from you when you have time. How long have you been eating so healthy. I would think you are probably aware of the need to be alkaline and not acidic as well. And of course alcohol makes us acidic so another reason to call it the "old days" hey?
