    niacin and liver toxicity

I have been adding some low dose niacin to my current supplement regimen and seem to notice a slight difference in my anxiety and quality of sleep. I have slowly increased to currently 500 ml. once a day, but I am now concerned about liver damage if I go to the levels that are recommended by many orthomolecular doctors on the net such as 3000 ml. a day and higher. Other info I have read says I need to have my liver enzymes monitored with blood tests. Confused with the conflicting info and would like to hear other thoughts on this subject by those who may have used niacin or went further in researching this.
    Thanks for any feedback

    hi beerthirty and welcome!

niacin can indeed irritate the liver. I've used inositol as it has the benefits without the downside of irritation and also doesn't cause the 'flush' feeling.

I'm a big fan of magnesium for calming the nerves and better sleep also.

as always, do your own research.

High dose niacin ... like stations... reduce cholterol and tryglycerides ans both require liver panels. Statin
      Not stations.

      Sorry for droid auto correct.
