I have got another funny story thats not about my garden but kinda is, this morning I heard a van outside my house but no one knocked on the door or rant the bell so I forgot it. I have a kind of porch thing at my front door so later I opened the door leading to it and there was a hoe I had ordered from ebay jammed into the letter box with the end of the pole against the wall and the hoe end stuck in the letter box jamed at an angle! I coundnt open my front door, it was all stuck my son had to come and I went out round the back and we had to wiggle the thing free and back out of the letter box, who would try and put a hoe through a letter box, I am wondering what the daft postman was thinking when he realised it wasnt going to go in and it also wouldnt come back out again, he still didnt ring the bell so he must have just ran away:H

Im glad I started gardening it has its funny side too

          Beautiful Rhodi, Sunni-G!

          What does Leciejo
stand for and how can I shorten it? How do you feel about Litchi? I like that photo about your dog. Something about the light quality makes it feel like those family snapshots taken in the 70's. Don't take offense, I *love* those photos. And its nothing to do with whats in the picture, just that kind of poloroid lighting, I think its the way the sun hit the camera.

Dizzy, thanks on the photo. You know, you are right, I wondered what was so funny about this. My husband took it with a digital and I have actually never had a "real" copy of it. I wonder what it would look like if I had it printed. Hmm. I married into a giant polish family with a giant polish name and thats just the first few letters. I kinda like Litchi, I've never been given a GOOD name before. HaHa.

Morning gardeners, this thread makes me smile. And you have a lovely dog Litchi.

Sunny G I dont know about you but every trip out with us I have to reign in the wallet so we dont spend it all on plants. Your Rhodi made me think of our last trip to the hardware - Bunnings - and the place is full of bare rooted roses...could go nuts but we only moved into this place in January and we havent made the space for much apart from the vegies - and the structure - and chooks. Pretties - cottage type garden - in the sun out the back next and a tropical quiet space in the front yard. Goal is before the end of the year.

I went nuts on roses one year ...

Here are some of last year's David Austin's with mint, dill and chives. (I also apologise if I've posted this before on the Undies thread.0

Yeah Haps, I think its OK to repost gardening pics here as its the gardening thread after all.

                        Very beautiful TF!

                        Litchi
, I’m a words person. ‘Lie’ in Afrikaans and ‘Li’tchi in the whole of South Africa is pronounced with a ‘Lee’ as opposed to ‘Lie’ sound, so I just added on chee. So in my head I call you Lee-chee.

And if you want an analogy of why Litchi is a good recovery nickname, here is one. When I was about 7 my brother gave me my first litchi to eat. He is 5 years older and was always giving me weird crap to eat. He would pretend to eat it and I would then foolishly eat the chilli or drink the salty coffee or whatever, so this time I point blank refused to this funny looking thing.

Its only after my mom removed the hard prickly skin that I tasted the most delicious soft white flesh... So perhaps after getting through your hard struggle to recovery and battle with the bottle you will realise the sweet taste of success, and what joy you can find outside of living with with the bottle... OK...I will stop talking nonsense now...

I have to take the doggie to the vet. The poor old thing is scratching himself silly. I think its old age and nothing seems to work except for cortisone. *sigh*

                          Oh Froglet :h
Those are simply stunning. I might try my hand at a rose this year. Somehow, they seem too delicate for a simpleton like me. And, I lurve your vase/mini-cauldron, too!

Haps.. I am with you on the perma-lock for the wallet. I really shouldn't be allowed on unsupervised trips with money on me... at least from May until September.

Dizzy, good luck with the pooch. Could it be like a nervous habit?

Skipping in quickly. Dizz our dog has really sensitive skin which has improved out of sight since I started slipping him fish oil capsules when I pop my own supps. Just a thought.

Dizzy last night my daughter ended up taking her dog to the vet because she couldnt open her eys, and laso one of my dogs was licking her front paws like mad. I have woken up this morning with my eyes stinging and been rinsing them out so I think its some kind of pollen or that kind of thing in the air, is it possible thats what is wrong with your dog or is your dog always itchy. Hope he/she? is ok and gets sorted its horrible when something like that with a dog because apart form staying with them to try and stop them chewing and licking themselves there doesnt seem much else we can do. I stood skye in the bath with the shower running cllean water over her, especially her paws and have dried them off to try and get off whatever it is that must be coming from the garden.

                                Gardening

Lucky is a Terrier cross breed pavement special boy who was saved from a garbage bin about 15 years ago. He was my brother's exes dog who is now living with my brother and I. He is an extremely nervous dog because of the early abuse but otherwise he LOVES his tennis ball and going for walks.

He has never had problems with his skin before so I think it may be age. The vet obviously guilt-tripped me into getting flee drops, flee pills, the most expensive food and cortisone pills... I dunno, we buy good (but not the most expensive) for him, put omega 3 oil on his food, try to give him baths even though he HATES it, and obviously give flee drops in Summer. I never saw any flees on him but the vet found one. He also said it could be a nervous twitch or grass.

We have him and then two rescued male cats. You'd be surprised how expensive it can be to rescue these lovelies but they are worth it. I can't believe how cruel people can be. I believe in neutering animals as there are simply too many and people like Lucky's and and two cats previous owners don't realise how cruel it is to simply leave them in a bin/barn/gutter.

Sorry, didn't want to depress anyone...

We have a loverly sunshine day today so I took Lucky for a walk after the vet. He was so happy the vet didn't stick a sharp object in his ass this time, AND he got a walk afterwards, he thinks its his birthday.
