After doing my back in, yet again and being in bad again for days from my last gardening attempt I am going to have to quit on most of my new gardening hobby. I was so enjoying it and now am sitting looking at the garden thinking of what I would like to do but cant. So gardening, like my short lived dancing hobby is now out of the question for me, well mostley but not totally, I still am going to keep up on the bed I have already planted with the bush things, I have also put some runner bean seeds in pots and trays and put them out until I can get someone to dig a little run for them along the fence, I dont think Im going to be able to do veg like the carrots and lettuce seeds I have but somepotatoes are in and they just grow without help really. So even tho I wont be doing lots like you I will keep you informed on my work free garden

I bought it Leciejo - I got fed up with weeding a huge garden area so bought four raised beds but you can easily make them too - with corners and wood or just with wood and make your own. I was lazy and bought them out of recycled plastic!! so far they are awesome!!

When I said I did it - I meant I FINALLY managed to post a picture !!!!!!!!! LOL

So proud of you, Sunny-D! Oh, and your garden looks purdy too.

Space, I think the only way you will be able to garden is if you do proper raised beds. And by this I don't mean Sunny's isn't proper, I mean yours should be at kitchen counter level, so you don't have to bend down. So if this is something you really want to do, you can get some raised beds like hers and put it on top of a table or existing structure. You can get your older sun to do the heavy lifting and then you just do gentle weeding and pottering, like ladies are supposed to do.

But your comment about your short lived dancing hobby did make me smile :H as I miss-read 'short lived dancing career' and had to go back to see what you really meant.

Oh and your rat comment was even funnier!

I love the duck sun and the raised beds they are cool.

Im not going to bother with all the veg gardening, no my sons wont be reliable to do any work, they may say they will when I ask but it causes me too much stress to nag them to actually get anything done.

When my back is feeling a bit better and I am mobile I think I might just rake over a bit of ground and throw some seeds about, it wont cost me anything so nothing ventured nothing gained, I will just see if anything grows. after all the potatos have been growing on my compost heap for years just from peelings, nature intends plants to grow we just help them.

Been in a stressed and down kinda frame of mind today... but at least I got some serious weeding done. 7 out of 8 flower beds DONE. These 3 I did today:







I took one of our lawn mowers to my son on Sunday... guess what? Can't start either of the 2 I got left :upset: Damn. I have BBQ company coming on Saturday, too... perhaps I'll have to hand out machetes so they can get to the fire pit!

Sunny-G, I really love your garden and I too wish I worked harder when stressed. You are usually so upbeat and quick to catch and make a joke, so sorry you are a bit down. :l

And Nora, you had me drive to the Nursery this morning to get Morning Glory seeds, no kidding. I did buy some last time but as I was drinking I soaked them for too long and then forgot to water them - doh!

I wanted Black Eyed Susan too but then I remembered they get all messy after a year and then its a bit difficult to maintain whereas morning glory is beautiful most of the year. Did you know that the root is actually a drug? Don't eat it now, you hear?

Are pumpkins easy to grow?

I bought lots of seedlings and want to see if I can set up my makeshift greenhouse this weekend, will post pics then.
