Right now there is so much in my life thats bringing me down and waiting to see the blackbirds of a morning taking in the worms and then the noise they make of an evening its just so beautiful, I would love to be able to go and take a peek at the babies but I know that could mean disaster so I have to wait until they are ready to fly before I will see them. It somehow feels like they are my wild babies

Hi Everyone,
I've been away and so busy I haven't been able to get on this thread but started reading a little bit just now and absolutely have to catch up, Dizz, its a wonderful thread, and everyone, so many great ideas and pics and books and just everything, gee, I'm glad we are all here.
Also, my patio garden has really grown, I just posted a "first planted" picture and today I took some new ones to put on, plus the most amazing thing happened today, when I went out to water I noticed that a beautiful "Dove" has made a nest in one of my plants, I guess she is going to lay eggs, she stayed all day and didn't even fly away when I was on the patio, late in the afternoon she got up and stretched and slowly flew away, she actually has made somewhat of a nest, will see if she comes back. Will post pictures next.

A Dove Has Nested In My Garden
A Dove has nested in my garden. Do you guys think she is going to lay eggs or is she just hanging out because she is resting and it is a quiet place:h. Either way, I'm honored, to go out and have her there and not fly away is quite awesome!!!

Hi DizzyBee. I love the excerpt form that book. Gardening is so calming and really put you one with god creation. It just makes you feel good. I miss being able to garden. Due to the economy, Im living in a studio apartment so Im not doing much gardening but hopefully by this time next year I will be. Im going to have to check out that book. Sounds like something I would like.

Hi people
Sorry I've been neglecting this thread, gearing up to go to the UK for 6 months and am a little stress ball. Am afraid its a flat with no balcony so no gardening while I'm there but its only for a little while, and there is always the kitchen sill.
Thanks everyone for sharing your pictures.
Play, your dove is too cute and even your balcony reminds me a bit of Spain. So pretty!
Hiya Mama Bear  EDIT: OK, I just wanted a normal wave but the computer decided you needed a royal one, so who am I to judge!
Sunny_G, your garden just puts the rest of us to shame.
Sunny_D, nice to finally see your butt(s)! :H
Space, you always surprise me, you are a Jill of many trades, is there any job you haven't done? :bigwink:
Welcome Amy, yes that book does look good. I must say I haven't read it but saw it in the book store and it inspired me to start this thread.

Gardening
Hi Dizz and Everyone,
Just was thinking of this gardening thread today and wanted to pop in again, and OMG, can't believe that it has been ever so long since we have been on here. Perhaps we can start it up again.
Let me start by saying that my balcony garden was really beautiful and then I was gone to Spain for quite a long time. My daughter did a wonderful job of trying to take care of it but it was very difficult for her to come by every couple of days to water the plants, but she did it nevertheless, even so most of the flowering plants have pretty much died, I'm not really sure why, maybe it was just the time of year, or not having some one looking at them every day and giving them lots of attention.
The other thing that happened was that the beautiful dove (and it turned out that she did have a mate) laid two eggs, and she and her mate took wonderful care of them. My daughter was coming every day to check on them while I was gone to Spain and it was so thrilling that they did hatch and there were two tiny baby doves with the parents sitting on them and caring for them night and day. As it turned out, it seems that doves are very fragile in the first part of life and these two little doves only survived for the first few days, it was a really sad disappointment for both my daughter and myself but we are hoping that this pair of doves will come back next year and lay their eggs again and with perhaps better luck this time.
So, my two bushes are still growing and flowering and a couple of other plants and I will need to start over, maybe plants that don't need so much water.
Ok, lets hear it from some more of you gardeners out there. Dizz might be "OUT OF TOWN" but we can revive this thread, lets hear from some of you again.
love,
Play
