May be going thru the change
I don't know if I am, but I am having lots of hot flashes lately, they pass quickly but boy, my body gets real hot like a wave of heat, then after about a minute or two it passes then I may even get cold later, if say, I'm in bed and taken all the bedding off and most of my clothes Any natural stuff I can take? It's just bothersome (especially at work) don't want to go to the doctor or anything. But willing to pick up something at the health food store or something if you can direct me.

:H:H You can't believe how many times I wanted to strip down in a bank or a supermarket in the middle of the summer with the air conditioning on high.
Hart, I don't know how old you are but from what I've read, most women go through menopause between 45 and 55 but the symptoms can start as early as 35. One of my very good friends here was having the hot flashes and other symptoms and started drinking blacke cohosh tea and she found it helped out tremendously. I understand it is readily available and I hope it helps you, too. Unfortunately, I went through that phase about 6 years ago and didn't know about the natural remedies then. I refused to take hormone replacements so I just sweated it out, so to speak.:H:H
Best of luck....For every 60 seconds that you are angry, you lose a minute of happiness.

Hello Hart,
Check out Biochemical Tissue Salts - Calc Phos. Seriously, all women should know about this remedy. It works! I think alcohol certainly doesn't help with the flashes but this remedy most definitely does. Not only that, it's cheap!
If you need anymore info, PM meYou were born with wings, why prefer to crawl through life? Rumi

Calc Phos sounds like a good remedy FF-worth trying and it can't hurt...Psalms 119:45

Spacebebe,
When I was going through it my doc just wrote the same old script he wrote for everyone and I turned into the meanest DOB (that's daughter where you would usually put son) and scattier than a mad hatter. So I ended up sweating it out instead.
Recently a friend who is ten years younger than me consulted with a doc who understood the importance of progesterone/estrogen balance and even the importance of testosterone in some cases and she is doing great on the individually considered script." I'm not trying to counsel any of you to do anything really special, except to dare to think and to dare to go with the truth and to dare to love completely." -R. Buckminster Fuller

There's a book called Hormone Heresy by Sherrill Sellman. From back cover...
Vital Information Necessary for Informed Choices:
* Synthetic hormones used in HRT and the Pill contribute to breast, ovarian and uterine cancers, cardiovascular disease, fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, fatigue, liver disease, impaired thyroid function, lack of libido and more (an 18-year study of US nurses conclusively links HRT and breast cancer)
* The missing factor in hormonal blance is natural progesterone.
* Menopausal and perimenopausal symptoms are not about oestrogen deficiency, but oestrogen excess.
* Natural progresterone is one of the most effective ways to prevent and reverse osteoporosis.
* There are safe and effective solutions to hormonal imbalance at whatever age it occurs.
* Tampering with a woman's hormones is tampering with her power.
* Listening to the wisdom of our female bodies is the path to health and empowerment.
Good book and worth a read for an informed choice. You were born with wings, why prefer to crawl through life? Rumi

May be going thru the change
I went back to my docs yesterday and got the HRT.
I am thinking that with me having gone through the menopause early I am likely to get ageing problems earlier as well, I am very worried about my bones mostly, which Im having problems with already at 49. It is a confusing thing to try and decide on but for some reason my worries seem to be greater about not taking it than about taking it.

Hi Space,
It doesn't necessarily mean you'll have ageing problems earlier just because you have an early menopause. Mine was very early - I'm younger than you and out the other side. It's important to get regular exercise, particulary weight bearing for the bones (I choose yoga, walking and now starting running) and obviously diet plays a huge role. No-one would have a clue I've been through it and I still get told I look early 30s. Personally I wouldn't go anywhere near HRT but it is of course an individual choice.
