    Don't Waste Your Lemon Peel

Your welcome! I've read other things about them too that are good for you in the past. I didn't know you could freeze them either. It makes it very easy to store & grate them.

Thanks for posting this valuable information Wildflowers.

not sure what the wine videos are about...I did not watch them..
Your welcome to! Didn't know there was a link to a video! So sorry there was a link to video on wine! Never would have posted knowing that, sorry again! Must say your very resourceful!...

Wow, very cool. I'd love attending a seminar about these kinds of things! I agree the media, lobbyist don't want us to know about natural cures, they'd lose millions, imo.

Wow...that must've been a wonderful experience. It amazes me at how many natural rememdies are out there yet so many are unaware of them. Just like aromatherapy...I have been using it for years and also on my horses. There's nothing like bathing your horse with a soothing lavender infused conditioner after a hard workout. Now it is the "in" thing to do. I think we are years ahead of our time! HaHa
Love aromatherapy! Have books, oils, herbs. Had 3 interviews for a job last year. But, unfortunately didn't get it. Oh well, I keep looking. I love horses. Haven't been riding in several years. Just as a hobby once in a while. Lucky horses. I put lavender oil in my bath & use it for stress.

It was wonderful Des. Stayed on the Fraser River with a large boardwalk that I walked every evening. Gorged on excellent sushi many times(even had a take out stolen from me on the skytrain!) I figured he needed it more than I did. Your horses are very lucky to have you care for them naturally. I'll bet they are all the more beautiful for it. Some chamomile oil drops would enhance the soothing lavender in the bathing. Although chamomile is more expensive. Ahead of the times?? Sometimes I think I'm digging my heels in staying in the past!
That all sounds fantastic! We went on a two wk dream vacation just once in Montana. Part of it was on a river, lake, horseback riding, white water rafting, massage with healing oils. Ate sushi too. I think during the massage I had chamomile tea bag on eyes. I think I will go make me a nice cup of tea now. LOL. I think sometimes it's good to revisit the past, esp when some of the present days suck.

I really do appreciate your ladies kindness & support, thank you! :h

I never meant to offend anyone! I took a peek over there on the thread where that person who seemed not happy about this post, to see why they were not thrilled. I had no idea what was going on in their life. Feel bad for them!... Been there to, more then once! :upset: Still calling people names & making fun of other peoples posts. Wonder why they have to take there pain out on others, or maybe it's just how they are & nothing to do with me & other poster. Anyway, I wish them well, wish them healing & peace.

    Take Care :h

At a minimum this would make food taste great. We use fresh lemon juice often, often throwing away the rind. You could probably re freeze the grated rind. The health benefits would be a bonus.

Sorry for the rude response, I was in a bad mood when I posted that and I should have worded it better. Thanks for the link, RingingCedars, I suppose there might be something to the lemon peels thing after all. It does upset me though when people with cancer choose to neglect medically proven techniques, thinking that alternative treatments are a better bet. This has often led to people letting their cancer go to the point that it cannot be treated, and this is unfortunate.

If you are using it for food, don't just shred it. You will ruin your food. You just want the yellow skin. Use a zester if you have one.
If you get down to the white parts, those are bitter.
You can use zested lemon in sauces, salads, and many other items. It's a staple in a chef's arsenal.

But don't use that whole lemon in your food! Not those white parts and not the seeds!

Thanks for the info Wildflower; it's a well known fact that us drinkers or ex drinkers need lemons to detox our livers. I just threw my last lemon in the freezer.

I'm a big juicer and pretty much juice juice the whole lemon every time but of course the peel is shredded out so this is a nice way to get it back.

WildF. WHY are we supposed to freeze it first? I just used my zest ear and put a bunch in my lemon water or ice tea like a pulp.

                  Thanks!

No problem ryrye!... If I had a nickle for every time I've been in a bad mood & said something I wished I hadn't, I might be able to by that sports car, your sporting, as your avatar.

I understand about being upset when it comes to "medically proven techniques", verses "alternative treatments are a better bet". "This has often led to people letting their cancer go to the point that it cannot be treated, and this is unfortunate".

Sometimes & sometimes not. Sometimes people choose Western Medicine, Chemo, Radiation & then do alternative treatment for there after care treatment plan. However, whether they do or not, it's their choice!.... Unless, it's a minor, there are laws, at least in the USA, to protect them, I think. Still, when it's somebody you love, it's very difficult to watch.

My Father in law, had Testicular cancer yrs ago, did the "medically proven techniques", also survived a very bad broken back, massive heart attacks. Then when he was diagnosed with stomach cancer & liver cancer, he & MIL decided to use alternative medicine. They didn't want to go through chemo, radiation treatment. He lived a pretty good quality life for almost 3 yrs, before he passed. But, yes, it was unfortunate to say the least, watching him wither away & seeing my family hurt!

There really is no 100% proven techniques on either side. Sometimes there isn't even an optimal treatment available, as it's already progressed to far, it's not treatable, other then palliatave care. I do think it depends on which type of cancer a person has, different treatments & outcomes. There are some 5, 10, & I think 20 yr survival models.

Yes, I have done this COS. Not just over doing it with lemon, but garlic, onion, etc. Think I was drinking too much, cooking, while playing around & not knowing what I was doing . I am a better chef now that I am sober.

Well, some people like to put the white parts & seeds in their juicers & blenders. Maybe they like it. We all have different likes & tastes.

Glad to hear your, "Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, is to lift a statewide fire ban as the threat of wildfires subsided". I think you poor folks are getting some cooler temps & some much needed rain!

I believe there is excellent health benefits to juicing Kradle! I need to get one, as my blender isn't strong enough. My MIL juiced for my FIL, when he had cancer, using only fresh organic fruits & veggies. I think they used that guy Jack L.?, the guy that's been on TV forever, the fitness guru, looks 20+ yrs younger then he probably is.

Do you recommend a certain juicer brand?

I think cause, it makes it easier to zest, mine is in the freezer. That's what our friend said anyway.

                            Don't Waste Your Lemon Peel

                            Interesting posts.

I have a good friend who always ate the whole lemon, peel and all. GACK!!

                            She got breast cancer anyway.

Not sure if this is meaningful, but it is an anecdotal experience.

However, she did survive the breast cancer very well. She followed traditional medical methods: surgery, chemo, radiation.

I still remember her eating her lemon peels in her tea, skin, rind and all. Again, GACK

However, I do believe that so much about nutrition is unknown because Big Pharma would rather find a way to make money than find a way to help people.

And, no, I am not deriding the original post about lemons. The world is abundant with sources of food that are healing and life giving. However, like someone before me here posted, it is sad when people choose a homeopathic cure with very little studies to support it over what is often a cruel but useful traditional method to become cured.

Homeopathy in the "western" world is in its infancy and needs as much study and work as the traditional medicinal "cures" that are out there.

I hope I haven't made any enemies or stepped on any toes. I agree, sometimes the cure is right in front of us and we don't know it. I would eat lemons whole if I had cancer and there was a chance it would cure it, in a heartbeat. I would also do what my doctor recommends.

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad, Daisy.

There is a lot out there about the liver. You just have to figure out what works for the individual involved. I had imbalanced liver enzymes in the early nineties and gained 100 pounds in 10 months. I was not retaining any nutrition and had chronic diarrhea, that made me break out in a cold sweat and made me have to find a bathroom pronto. That made it hard to even go to the grocery store. To this day, my liver is more sensitive than most.

Some of the levels were too high and other levels were too low. What eventually worked for me was a combination of diet, supplementation (milk thistle did NOT work in my case but it does work in many cases), and ESPECIALLY acupuncture that included not just the needles, but electrodes too, and lots and lots of rest. I've known people who didn't get any results from acupuncture but I do acupuncture to this day because in my case, it is miraculous.

I will keep your Father in my prayers for the Miraculous.
