    Inositol powder, anyone using this?

I tried tryptophan and inositol together for my depression a few months ago - unfortunately it did not help me, but we're all different.

The Larsen book is good at suggesting different supplements depending on what your symptoms are. I'm still trying different things, taking the methodical approach so as to not confuse the issue, but it takes time and that is a little frustrating. Good luck to everyone.
I've read you need to take it on an empty stomach with juice. The carbohydrates in the juice help it cross the blood brain barrier.

There are different types of depression. The site I posted has formulas for the different types. Mine has responded to SSRIs, so I'll say I'm serotonin deficient. Some depression need other chemical messengers boosted like Norepinephrine for instance. You, also, need to be careful you don't get too much serotonin conversion outside of the brain. After the new year, I'll start my adjustments and see where I go. What I've read makes sense to me so far, but in reality that remains to be seen.

If you needed antidepressants, you'd know it. It's not a temporary mood that can be fixed with an attitude adjustment. I have read they prescribe them for PMS now though. Seems to me, there may be some natural healthy choices that can help with that. Plus, as you know when we stop drinking, our chemistry starts to rewire and make us moody. You mentioned caffeine in another thread. I believe that can make PMS worse. Have you added in some exercise? Worked out a healthier diet? Believe me, I'm not pushing or judging as I just had a couple sugar cookies and coffee for Sunday morning breakfast while watching my news shows. I'm the poster child for what not to do at times.

After new years and reading Larsen's book, I'll start making some supplement adjustments and keep the boards posted of any successes. It will be a work in progress...slow most likely though. Tampering with this crazy head is a real piece of work. :H

        Hope you are doing well.

              Hi Pauly

I'm not taking the inositol at the moment, but I just wanted to mention that I have successfully used evening primrose oil for PMS. It definitely decreases the symptoms for me.

Hard to explain but I seem to have a better focus and peace of mind. I don't think it's placebo since I don't expect much. I mix it with glutamine and the glut does zippo for me.

Problem is I rarely remember to take it. I really wanted it to help finish off any cravings and help with sugar cravings. I have so much junk in my kitchen cabinets it's hard to remember to take it. Cabinets full of supplements, loose teas, scrips, etc.

I agree. I really need to stick to it. I have a tub of it but it say 1/4 t. I've been taking more like 1 T. when I do.

I am going to leave it out on my counter for now on. I think I am done with the L Glut at least until my back is good and I can exercise. I've never had any luck with glut.

The only SE's I could find online were nausea, fatigue, headaches, dizziness. Sure doesn't sound good.

the only effects i've had with inositol has been drowsiness. so that is why i take it in the evening times. or if I have bad anxiety. I take about a full teaspoon in those cases. your personal dose may vary of course.
