    L-Theanine for Anxiety

    Hi Pauly

I started the l-theanine about a week and a half ago - I'm taking the dose that FlyAway suggested - 100 mg in the morning, and 200 mg at bedtime. I feel a little calmer after the morning dose - nothing too dramatic but nice, and it doesn't seem to make me drowsy. I have noticed feeling a little more motivated - now this could just be a placebo effect, or an unrelated mood swing, but I plan to keep taking it and see how it goes. I may move the second dose to earlier in the day, since it's not making me drowsy.

I bought mine online - Jarrow brand I think - I don't remember the cost but it was reasonable.

        L-Theanine for Anxiety

        Hi,

I wanted to thank both you & turn for taking the time to post about Suntheanine. I briefly remember her speaking about this amino acid to FD when he was suffering so much with anxiety. I also have suffered with it, agitation, anger, restlessness, depression most of my life. Have suspected some mild sub type ADHD going on, but tested negative.

I'm also skeptical like you. Have to do research. However, I seem to trust several of you MWO people with these things. I didn't even take the time to read the study you posted before I ordered. Have partially now. Just read a bit on-line.

Apparently the reg L-Theanine isn't as pure like you mentioned & can cause headaches. Which wouldn't be good for a migraine sufferer as yourself. I think that's what your diagnoses is & hope your doing better. My hubs takes generic Imitrex (sp). But, I think his are more sinus related, or a combo migraine.

I do try & read anything that Turn posts knowing Lav & Byrdie are her mentors is good enough for me. I also am following your posts as well.

I should have copied & pasted the independent site that tested Suntheanine products, as I can't find it now. I can only remember Dr's Best & Swansons were two of the brands. I ordered Swanson's as it was less money & we have a friend who's ordered from them for years. He's a major health nut. Has rode his bicycle thru interstates. I also read reviews before I make purchases.

I started taking 100mg am for three days with coffee, then 100mg pm. Eight days total so far. I'm noticing subtle difference like you. I will let others know in a couple of weeks if I notice anything else. I also do notice a bit of cognitive improvement besides the calming effect & less agitation, anxiety, anger. I've passed this info on to some others whom I think it may benefit.

Thank you so much for posting this helpful information!

Thanks for taking the time to write this. I just came back to reread this thread because I was thinking about telling someone else on here to give it a try. What you describe is pretty much what I notice; a subtle difference. I'll take it because I'm the kind of person who never
notices a difference in the way I feel when everyone else is raving about how great some product is. I'm always telling my husband that I think most people suffer from the placebo effect when they take a new supplement.

Saw your post Pauly, I buy my Sun Theanine from Swanson Vitamin on line. 60 caps @ 100mg each are $6.99 delivered, and sometimes they have 2 for 1 specials. Check out their web site, I have a GNC right across the street and haven't set foot in there for years.

            See you, B-45

I don't know if anyone is still using L-Theanine, but I've added another 100mg midday. So I take 100mg first thing in the morning with coffee, usually a couple hours after lunch I take another 100mg, and I take 200mg before bed. I have felt so incredibly happy since beginning this regimen!

I will keep your dosage schedule in mind & did take one in midday. Had offered my re-order coupon to a friend, they ended up declining late. I've now ordered two bottles. Have enough for am & pm before my second order arrives.

I sometimes have more anxiety & agitation on certain days. I think some of this is do to my Thyroid disease, as I can be hyper & even hypo. Along with Perimenopause, needing to learn to eat breakfast after many yrs of not & with once being a fitness guru. Too much caffeine & smoking.

I've also had many family issues to contend with. Yest hubs had his prostate biopsy as well. Day before he took Advil as his migraine med didn't touch his bad headache.... Poor guy.... He will be OK... He's a tough old bird.... Grew up on 180 acres...

Anyway, :thanks: for putting this info out there for everyone FlyAway! Plzz no need to respond as I'm sure your busy & my little rant is just a bit of a release. I'm still very grateful for my sobriety ~ recovery & much more!

                  L-theanine

Fly, thanks so much for introducing me to L-theanine. Been 2 weeks, now Suntheanine, and feel great. This stuff is the real deal. Discussed with Doc and he said big pharma plays it down but it really works. Thank again.

                    Dear FlyAway,
Thanks for this info on LTheanine, I recently stopped taking Zoloft after tapering down for one month and feel just fine without it. I was never able to feel ok when stopping it many times before. I was able to go off after only one therapy session with a psychologist who uses muscle testing, magnets, tapping and other interesting modes in her practice. I've also started taking AB on Monday only and then having a regular weekend where I am able to drink some, not to excess, my friends and i call it The AB 5/7 program. I'm having some trouble with sound sleep so this might be something good for me and who doesn't want to feel calm at work and in traffic

                    Thanks again,
                    Playland

L-Theanine, Aniracetam, and Sulbutiamine is what I take personally to help me with my social anxiety. I've been taking them since I slowly tapered off of Thorazine (Chlorpromazine) since I began having difficulties recalling important information while I was in classes, and how it put me into a perpetual "zombie" mode.

A friend of mine had mentioned that L-Theanine, and Aniracetam might be helpful in regards to my issues being/talking around people as well as the fact that both could help me with my memory.

There's plenty of information about aniracetam out on the net, and I know one website (smartdrugsforthought.com) has a research page with a downloadable PDF that you can look through to find out more about it. Aniracetam has definitely been a great help, considering it has helped me with what made me anxious mostly which was talking to people regardless of if they were strangers or familiar friends/people.

Sulbutiamine I came across while researching Aniracetam, and decided to give it a try as I was a bit concerned that they would not be able to help me as much compared to the Thorazine. However it has been about 8 month since I last took Thorazine, and while i still occasionally get nervous/anxious about people I'm finding it much more tolerable than before.

                      Cheers!

I use it pre bedtime, supposedly to help me recover from training, couldn't say if it has an effect or not!
I used the Sinclair Method to beat my alcoholic drinking.
