    Natural cures for anxiety

MossRose- i have found an OTC product that works when I feel a panic attack coming on. It is Seredyn found at BioNeurix.com. Seredyn can be taken every day or occasionally as needed.

Dream - I love the sound of walking through a garden gate. Sounds, well...dreamy right now. (couldn't resist). I just went outside and it's arctic here - below zero right now. But my car started, so I'm happy.

Patrice - the same man who gave me the free samples of magnesium also mentioned taking amino acids. I see a few here are doing that with success. I will definitely try them.

TMH - funny you should mention Seredyn. I found that product during a Google search but wasn't sure if it was worth ordering. Thanks for the review.

Well, think my car should be warm by now, so off to work. Talk to you all later.

Told a friend about Seredyn. She let her sister know about it as her sister was almost a recluse. High anxiety. Sister started taking it, so my friend asked "so you think it works"? The sister said, "I know it works; it was the best Thanksgiving I had in 20 years".

To be clear, no vested interest in product. It comforts me to have it in case I need it.

I know that Lav swears by Seredyn. I may have to try it myself. Everything else she says is usually right on point!

Moss, here are some sites that address grains, and if you poke around there are recipe ideas too:

            Mark's Daily Apple

            Chris Kresser
            (excellent podcasts also)

this guy has a great podcast and I can't rave enough about #79 which I've listened to several times already: The Bulletproof Executive — The State of High Performance

I also worry about xanax. It's different because the benzos all have different half-lives. It might be easier to quit the longer acting benzos? Anyway they're moving it to the dangerous drugs schedule here in Aus next year.

My favourite grain free site is jaminets perfect health diet. Though it's far too easy to overthink it. Best to just jump in and try it - basically a meat fish and veg diet.

Xanax and valium are bad news for those with a history of substance abuse. Both are highly addictive. And yes, the longer acting benzos with a slow onset such as clonazepam (klonopin) present less risk of withdrawal and "rebound" symptoms.
In the middle of my life's journey, I found myself in a dark wood, as I had lost the straight path. It is a difficult thing to speak about, how wild, harsh and impenetrable that wood is. Just thinking about it recreates the fear. It is scarcely less bitter than death, but in order to tell of the good that I found there, I must tell of the other things I saw there. --Dante, paraphrased

Thanks everyone for the links. I've done a bit of research and as Illrya suggested, I'm just jumping in. It makes a lot of sense. Although I admit, gluten free is easier than grain free, but I'm working on it.

Now for something completely different...has anyone tried tapping for anxiety. My mom learned this technique when she was going through cancer treatments. She used tapping to help with the physical and emotional pain. I know it looks simplistic and almost goofy, but I think there may be something here. I have tried it, and can say that it seems to help. At least it can't hurt, can be done at home, and is free.

This is not about alternative therapies but it is a very compelling talk about depression and a bit about anxiety, which he considers more unbearable: Andrew Solomon: Depression, the secret we share | Video on TED.com

                          Natural cures for anxiety

I should be the poster child for anxiety. I have severe social anxiety and have since my early 20's. It's gotten better over the years, although it's acute symptoms pop up at predictable times. I've also had panic attacks which I do associate with anxiety, but not social anxiety.

I've been on AD's for a very long time. But one thing that's helped with my severe anxiety is a supplement called Seredyn. Look it up. It helps me a lot.

I also see my doctor on a regular basis, and he has prescribed me adivan. I take half a pill two times a day and this helps a lot at work.

There's a lot of good responses on this topic that I'll be looking into. Thanks, and hope you find the right balance of exercise and supplements to reduce your anxiety.

Of course, I purchased a CBT program as well. Never got through the whole thing, but I believe it would work if one is consistent and persistent with it.

                                Natural cures for anxiety

                                Hi,

I have to agree with G-Man - exercise, exercise, exercise. It is hard, but more "natural" than any pill or supplement, free, and necessary for sanity, IMHO. Start with a trip around the block - it doesn't have to be a triathlon.

I also appreciated this website from Sunbeam in the tool box - 3 Tips to Lower Anxiety. Easy as pie, quick, do at home, center yourself.

All of this is easier said than done for me, but I have made exercise a priority this quit. And deep breathing.

                                Hope you're all doing well.
