more testing indeed... CT scan will be next. yes, twice now liver function/enzyme has come out perfect (whew!). Julie, you an me are in the same boat it seems...we can't be the only ones with this...?? I do feel better when I eat smaller meals and the swelling has been greatly reduced since I've stopped eating like a wild pig that smoked a doobie. Off to learn more. Swelling under right ribcage?
This is very interesting. I too have been having a mild/dull pain on my right side both front and back around the rib cage area which I find most pronounced when I have a bath?? I was doing research and it ALSO suggested gullbladder. Is gulbladder damage associated with drinking??Over 4 months AF :h

Swelling under right ribcage?
[quote=Determinator;141195]got the results back from my blood tests and came up with some disturbing things.
triglycerides are too high
LDL cholesterol is too high
Blood sugar is too high (not diabetic but getting there)
Testosterone is in the very lowest part of normal
quote]
Ok I have a little insight into this since I have to see a Chloresterol specialist. You triglycerides being high is not a good thing ingeneral. If you are drinking at all it will be abnormally high which in turn will raise your LDL. Testosterone will be damaged over time in men from long bouts of drinking but will eventually bounce back. Simle Fish Oil will bring your Triglycerides back in line.
Ok here is unfortuneately a very bad thing to bring up that you dont want to hear. Just because your liver tests have come back fine doesnt mean squat. Unless you are in cirrohsis those tests wont detect much or if you are actuively drinking. In order to detect any liver damage a CT needs to be run on the liver or even an ultrasound.
I have a Fatty Liver from being Overweight... and Drinking.
I have high Chloresterol from Herididity
I have high Triglycerides from Drinking.
Unfortunately it can be two things.. .the pancreus or the gall bladder. Both are active at the time during and shortly after eating. A EF test (Ejection Fraction Test) on your gall bladder is the ony 100% full proof way to tell if it is the issue. Blodd test are only about 15% accurate yet the idot doctors still do them first. My wfie went 4 years with a bad gall bladder until a doctor with more than half a brain ran an EF Test the first time we saw him as it is 100% reliable and found the gall bladder bad.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.Hablur

Drinking can readily cause damage to the liver, the kidneys, the pancreas, the stomach, the intestines, the heart, the brain, the gall bladder... well you get the point. The pancreas is located below the gall bladder and the stomach and is about 6 inches long. It regulates glucose in your blood and also helps regulate the acid in the duadnum. It actually does a bit more but I forget all that it does Since it is 6 inches long it fits nicely on both sides of the body and is pretty much centered on the spine.Hablur

Yes, alcohol abuse can cause inflammation in the gall bladder. I remember once years ago puking after a night of binging & it was green (gross I know). I thought-oh gosh, I'm puking bile. (the gall bladder is the resevoir for bile). All the liver's neighbors get effected by alcohol abuse.
Off topic a little but my sister in law had her's removed due to gall bladder attacks. Her's was not due to drinking but she fit the criteria of the 4F's (a nurse taught us this in school) of people more prone to gall bladder attacks-female, fair skinned, forties & fat. Just an FYI.:flower: Change a life; make someone feel important. ................. ........................ ..................... ........................ ................. ....... sigpic

A c-scan or ultrasound scan will show up gall stones.
My stone was the size of a nickel.
My doc said "you did not cause this by ANYTHING you have done"..
I had told my doc for a couple of years that my side hurts. He STILL put me off for another month soooooooooooo........I took matters in my own hands and made an appointment for a scan. Duh! I got a new doc!
The old one did come by before my surgery to see how I was doing....He is in business with "family", so probably not worried about a law suit.
The "four f's " do apply....
I feel sooo much better since gall bladder is gone...

Swelling under right ribcage?
My doctor told me my pain under the right rib was due to acid reflux and sinus problems so he gave me a nasal spray and some acid reducing tablets.
Stopped taking them now and ache is back even though I am not drinking much at all at the moment.Enough is enough
