    yogini 108 day AF challenge

    Hi,

I got busy and the weather was so nice, so I've missed yoga for a while. Did Yin yoga last night but it was a little unsatisfying.

    I'll be back...

Free, I hope you're feeling better.

Hi all, quick check in with me. Been feeling poorly but now on the mend and starting back into regular yoga practice. Always feel so much better when I make time for meditation and yoga.

How's it going for the rest of you all? Ready for May?

This week's goal -- yoga four times per week, alcohol no times per week. Yoga class this afternoon. Yeah!

          Hi FAL,

I can sure relate to a break in one's practice being pretty disruptive to life. I have taken a small break from working out for some pretty unimportant reasons. It makes me feel sluggish in general and particularly when I have to force myself to go work out. Inertia, uggh. When I am in my normal swing of things, my body is thirsty for excercise and I feel pretty great. Anyway, I hope everything is going well for you!

Hi Pinecone, so good to hear from you. Has spring finally made it to Maine?

I am doing well. Getting ready for my "retirement" which will start with a road trip and backpacking trip out West this summer. It's been a long time coming and I am so ready not to be on a plane, in an airport lounge, or alone in a hotel surrounded by "free" alcohol. Back into weekly yoga practice and feeling blessed.

It's coming someday...still had frost on the windshields this morning and 28 tonight but the birds are singing! You must be excited for your backpacking trip. I love, love, love backpacking too. There is just something about carrying all you need on your back and walking. I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to go. Great to chat with you!

                Hi, Yogini:

I went to a yoga class that some people around here recommended. It turned out to be an exercise class disguised as a yoga class - many vinyasas with push ups thrown in, many ab crunches, etc. I like a good workout, but I was disappointed that the class lacked the inner part of yoga - the breathing and mindfulness that are key to a good practice in my opinion - and WAY too much ego. Then a friend sent me this - I tend to agree: Four Things that are Wrong with Yoga. Thought I'd share.

So, back to my regular class tomorrow.

FAL - where out west? I am in Northern California...

Greetings all.... I'm new to this site and AF for 4 days. Would have been two weeks but I slipped Sunday night but I got back on that horse. I'm so excited to find this thread. I started Yoga about 2 months ago and I love it. I'm 58 and I feel so much more "balanced" and mentally "centered" when I take the time to start my day with at least 30 minutes. I'm already able to do things that were impossible just two months ago. And my back pain is soooo much better. Glad I found you!

                    Dear Yoginis,

Pav, I really dislike yoga classes that don't include mindfulness, mediation, or breathwork. If I want exercise, I can go to the gym and walk on the treadmill or life weights.

Ginger, welcome to this thread and to MWO. I have found the more I practice yoga, the less desire I have for AL in my life.

Hey everyone. Been practising and teaching a lot of restorative yoga lately.

I like this clip as a starting point to build a calm practice. If you haven't done a restorative class you don't know what you're missing out on

Great articles, MHP. Thanks so much for posting. I know I carry my issues in my gut/intestines, which were letting me know a few weeks ago. Been walking more, practicing yoga, and meditating and seeing more light each day. Ending the constant travel to West Africa also helped enormously.

Really appreciate the supportive community on this thread. Thank you!

Greetings all.... Today is 2 weeks AF no slips for me. I'm still doing Yoga every other day, walking 2-4 miles a day and riding my bike 5 miles 4 or 5 times a week. Feels good to enjoy the nice weather we've been having. Unfortunately, I'm really struggling with this wooshing noise in my head. I just feel kind of "out there" in lala land. Have any of you experienced this as a withdrawal symptom? I went to doc and he thought I had fluid in the one ear but nothing he had me try has helped. I'm at my wits end with this. HELP!!

Hi Ginger. Yes, I suffered from something like that and was diagnosed with this

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I didn't use medication to control it, just the rotation of the head that my physio and ayurvedic practitioner prescribed. And that worked. Not sure if what you have is the same though but worth bringing it up with your doc?

MHP, Thank you for the link. I will definitely check it out. Still waiting for a referral to an ENT. Wheels turn slowly in my neck of the woods. :/
