Ketogenic Diet Food List: Everything You Need to Know | Ruled Me

avocadoes are particularly lush here at the moment so I'm enjoying those at lunch salad green time. Salmon tonight for dinner.
That is a really comprehensive website - thanks! It's great that many of the foods listed most people enjoy eating. All of our avocados have to be shipped across the country. You are fortunate to have good ones right there. They are one of my favorite foods when they are good but so disappointing when they aren't!

Prophylactic oil pulling sounds like a good idea. I do it first thing in the morning (while I check in on MWO).

    I hope you're enjoying a nice, evenly-paced Sunday .

Happs - I just want to say how thankful I am for you sharing your experience with us. I believe most of us will at some time be confronted by this issue, be it personally or with a loved one, friend or acquaintance. The more we can learn about chemo, not just the physical but also the mental/emotional implications, the better we can prepare and try to understand what someone might be going through.

Your pro-active attitude is truly inspirational. Thank you.

Just stumbled on this thread Happs.
That diet gives you a huge choice of foods.
Still can't come to terms with oil pulling though.
Have you got anything for the nausea?
Or has it eased off now?

There's a wealth of information been posted on this thread.

Do you remember the avocado and crab recipe I put up on the Undies thread about a year ago.
That's got to be one hundred percent healthy.

Froglette x. Yep I remember that one Rags, lots of avocado there eh? The nausea was only initially and in the early morning and yes there are meds for it.

I'm finding the tremors to be quite bad. I taught yoga today and it was so bad that I really am not sure about my direction there anymore. Need to be gentle on self and find I "steel" myself to do any small movement. Not the best for someone teaching relaxation is it? Spoke to my breast care nurse and she tells me that the first two weeks after the chemo are the worst, one week of good and then we go again. However when I go to the once a week sessions the drugs are different and the effects will be too. Bring it on...

Eating well, usual suspects through the day, dinner chicken mince ragu with zucchini pasta. Anyone else got a vegie spiraliser? Its awesome, can't wait to play with it some more.

MHP, Just curious if medical marijuana is an option where you are? I've known several people that have used it while recovering from the chemo with wonderful results. Much better than the perscription meds. Hmmm.....

Sending you healing thoughts and good energy.

Hey Ginger, don't think so, or at least not in anything I know of apart from trials. Have had suggestions of same and gifts of various nature from friends though. I'm not the best on any type of drug lol. One I do think might me a goer though is a recipe for Majoon.

Moroccan Majoon recipe - The Stoner’s Cookbook

Only problem is that when the nausea is at its highest ie 12 hours after chemo I'm still fasting AND it contains fruit and honey. Catch 22. I'm considering it next round though. I've thought too, that its pointless me reporting what I eat each day, suffice to say its been easy to stick to apart from 1. last night I had a piece of buttered sour dough bread - yeah wicked, I know and 2. Fruit. I'm not a big fruit eater at all so sticking to berries is fine. But suddenly I'm craving a mango or a peach, totally out of season too. Go figure.

That sounds pretty tasty, I must admit! Let us know how it goes if you try it :nutso: :H.

I hope the tremors calm down soon for you and that you don't have to give up teaching. :l

My mum is on medical MJ. It's legal here both medical and recreational. She's had excellent results for pain control and depression. She's 82 and thought this was a bunch of crap until she tried it. I will definitely give her this recipe. Her doc had her on so much diladide that she couldn't get out of bed. Now she's driving herself shopping and to appointments as well as doing her garden again. I'm a believer in regard to her situation.

Good on your Mum Ginger! I think it's such an individual thing, having an illness of any kind and you should have the ability to choose and feel in a position of still having some kind of control over what can feel totally out of control. note on the Majoon, I'd try it with Medjool dates as the dried fruit and beware what you cook in the pan after, I've heard tales of scary eggs being dished out...

MHP... Great tip. I'll make sure mum has specific pans for these type of cooking projects. Hope you are feeling well. Take care.

                              Good Morning Happy,
The chemo really knocks you around, so please take it easy if you can.
Don't worry about the yoga class. Concentrate your yoga, your energy and your love on yourself.
Give yourself the space to heal gently. :l

Righto, just thought I'd pop this stuff in for future reference. A few people have asked what my process is so here you go:

One day every 21 days of Doxorubicin and Cyclophosphamide for a total of 4 times then
One day every 7 days of Paclitaxel for a total of 12 times.
so a total of 24 weeks. Then a break of a few weeks before radiotherapy. I'll be finished in time for a fantastic New Year.

After the first round I remember lying on the bed thinking, I cannot do this another 15 times. Today I am ok, I felt sick this morning as the anti nausea drugs are prescribed for 4 days then it's up to you to take them as you feel you need. Once I had a shower and sat in the sun for awhile I felt a bit better but my husband is home with me today, and that's good.

In terms of thinking I feel that its such an effort getting words from my brain and out, that half the time I don't bother but mostly I do as I'm so impatient and its such a blurb :H
                                Frustrating.

I saw a woman the other day with a red hat on, she'd obviously been through chemo. I wondered why when you do see someone up and about after treatment, there is an almost an approving hum from around, like good on you for just functioning and looking normal. It almost feels like pressure. And that in itself is a Catch 22. Feeling like shit and wanting acknowledgement of that and also wanting to be treated like every is ok.
