Fasting pre and post chemo
Hi everyone. I've been laying low - few things happening re my work and also the last round of chemo was a bit of work in itself!
Few changes in store. Number 1 being that I will no longer be doing the job I've done for quite a few years as I cannot fulfil my work duties. I'm realising how much of my identity was wound up in what I "do". I'm looking to change anyway, I think I'd mentioned that a couple of times earlier so whilst I could be angry and was for a little while - I am not a saint - I've gotten over it. I've got time now to get well and heal with no pressure. Will keep doing a couple of little jobs I do and that will give some income. All good.
Chemo number 3 has wiped me a little. I think the weather being colder too has made me turn in a little and my husband is forever prodding me to get out and just sit in the winter sun. Sometimes it can be too hard to even bother to get up to brush your teeth after you've eaten. I read somewhere its like walking through jelly and it feels a bit like that sometimes. I'm going to think of some strategies to get around that.
Physical note: the last lot of AC had just come out of the fridge. It was really icy cold when it went in and I feel it, even now. I mentioned that to my GP and she said it was worthwhile mentioning to the nurses to either warm it or warm the tube. Rookie mistake. Will be on that one as the pain/numbness is not something I want to repeat.
DD I've PM'd you but please ask any questions you like here on the thread if you feel unsure. Sharing knowledge or just how you feel is a powerful thing.
Thanks to all of you lovelies for the emails and pms. I really do miss it when I don't log in. xx

It's good to hear from you Happs.
I'm sure the work situation will turn out to be for the best. Hopefully you can now concentrate on making yourself better.
Do you know what to expect when the chemo routine changes? Is it supposed to be better or worse or just different? There's two ways of looking at the holes in your shoes

Hey Glassy! I've been told that although the side effects for the Paclitaxel are similar to the AC that it wont be as severe but that it can be an accumulative effect. So whilst I might start well it could be harder towards the end. But it is all individual so we will see. When I hear some of the side effects of things I always think, yes yes, that's YOU, not ME...and invariably it is me too. So I'm not putting money on not being tired or sick, just hoping for the best
Fun fact: Paclitaxel is plant based. So if I get bailed up by anyone about shooting my body full of toxic chemicals, that's my answer now...

Lottsa love and kisses from me to you:lipstick::lipstick:
Ginger, I refuse to answer the temperature question on the grounds that it will definitely incriminate me as a big woose :H:H I live in a pretty warm part of Australia so anytime the temp dips below ten degrees we all hibernate and shriek about how cold it is....or I do...actually Glassy lives in the same city. I don't think she shrieks.
Up early having my non healthy yoghurt. You know the type that says healthy all over it and is full of sugars and pretend fruit? yep, I've sunk that low :H this is first breakfast. Second breakfast of toast with cheese will be around 8 or 9. Roll on food...and I'm meeting a friend for a hot chocolate at 9.30 today. Yay!

It really is individual and I don't know anyone who has put more effort into keeping themselves healthy than you, or who has done more research and followed the best practice more, so maybe your results will be different. And I hope that doesn't sound unsympathetic to anyone who hasn't done so, because I hope with all my heart that anyone going through this will have the best, speediest, least painful experience possible. There's two ways of looking at the holes in your shoes

You know, many of our drugs are derived from plants - we use the natural (or somewhat modified) chemicals to our advantage that the plants evolved to protect themselves.
Hope you enjoyed all your mini-meals today and are feeling pretty good. :h NS

MHP! You're busted girlfriend! Our winters get down to 0 degrees F around here. That's why we are snowbirds and head south in the winter. LOL
Hope you are doing well. Sending you healing thoughts!
