ive just come home from being busted drinking on the job..
i work in a restaurant and bar so its not so bad.... i thought... but i have just been pulled aside by my boss who has confronted me about my drinking problem which untill right now, i've denied to everyone and more importantly to myself..
i am feeling extremely ashamed as what i have denied for so long as it is so obvious to everyone around me.... have found this web site in desperation...(whilst drinking a beer) can anyone help??:new:

I think most of us can relate, even if we haven't been in exactly the same situation. You will quickly find you are not alone.

This is a great site and if you are serious about tackling your problem, then get the My Way Out (MWO) book, read it and do what it says. And check in here constantly-- for support, for sharing successes and failures, and sometimes a good laugh or two.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

          Hi Lady Bug,

I had a similiar incident(s) happen to me where I would be drinking the night before and smell like alcohol the next morning, after brushing my teeth a gzillion times, thinking that it would get rid of the odor, only to have someone approach me at work asking me that question "Have you been drinking or phew you smell like alcohol". On many occassions I was told that by my family members and friends, who have brought to my attention that my drinking has gotten out of control. I can TOTALLY understand how you must be feeling and my advice is to Try not to beat yourself up (which is something we all are good at) and take the advice of MWO supporters. Trust me you are not alone in what you are feeling and you made the right choice by reaching out and admiting that there is a problem :goodjob:

I am very new to this program but so far I have found alot of support from reading the posts, sending out some posts myself (I just posted one last night, read it when you get a chance, it might help) and receiving support.

          Best of Luck,
          Janet :h

            Welcome Ladybug!

Yes, you've come to the right place, and yes if you download the book, and start reading, rading, reading, I promise only good things will hapen to you!

I can relate to your story...I used to bartend and it was all too easy to drink while working, until I started getting sloppy...it can be very embarrasing when called out, and also a wake up call!

            glad your here!...:welcome:

Hello, I hope you will feel comfortable enough here. Don't beat yourself up too much. Life happens. NOONE is perfect and NOONE has died and given anyone else permission to judge you. You don't even have the right to judge yourself, learn and move forward. There are good days ahead.

                  Hang in there!

                  A warm, warm :welcome: Ladybug!

I know it's hard at the moment but I think probably everyone of us had that 'wakeup call' that made us face the truth that we all thought we hid so well!! Maybe this is yours, so there's no need to look back (except to learn from it) but to look forward - this is your opportunity to start on a new path to a new future - and we're right here with you! Hopefully you'll look back one day and see this as a blessing in disguise though I'm sure it doesn't feel quite like that just now.

As others have already said, the support here is amazing, take time to read, read, read - you'll find inspiration, motivation, support, etc - but never judgment. So again, welcome on board, so glad you found us and look forward to getting to know you better!

                  Warmest wishes,

                    Welcome Ladybug,
I think if I worked in a bar I would have the same thing happen to me.
I certainly know the feeling of shame etc. Don't beat yourself up, it has
probably done you a favour in making you face up to your problem.
You have come to the right place for help and non judgemental support.
                    Best wishes Paula.
