Ok, Here goes Day 1 - Wish me luck! :o)

    Hi everyone!

I just wanted to drop by and announce that I am officially starting Day 1 AF NOW! It is just about time for me to leave work --- what would usually mean stopping at the liquor store on the way home --- but, not today! I am actually psyched about getting Day 1 under my belt. I hope this feeling lasts for 5 more hours! :H

I have been lurking for about a month, but now I am on the "Go" stage of the book. I did the Doctors appt, received and started my supps and CD's --- so, I am ready.

Tonight, I look forward to making dinner, listening to the CD's, and remembering everything that I do! LOL (In the past, I haven't been able to say that often!) I also look forward to waking up tomorrow and feeling good for a change.

Thanks to all of you for your honesty and support. I love reading all the new posts. I think it is going to help me to put my committment in writing to all of you awesome people.

Have a great evening! Wish me luck! )

I hope you do feel good tomorrow. I've been sober four days now and I still don't feel good. Recover before you let this desease take you down any further.

Hey Pink lady, hope your first day and night go smoothly for you. Remember, you may feel the odd headache or longing (for a drink) etc. but that is perfectly normal and all part and parcel of the process!! Just ride with it and keep yourself busy.
        Good luck

          Good Luck PinkLady!!

I am on day 2 AF myself, so we are kinda in the same boat. I'll do it if you will!

Ah, remembering everything you do for an evening - what a concept! The blackout periods have really gotten bad for me lately. There will often be several hours of an evening that I don't remember, and sometimes even entire phone conversations. So then of course I am mortified about what I might have said! Boy, I am sure gonna miss that!
When push comes to shove, you taste what you're made of.
You might bend till you break, 'cuz it's all you can take.
On your knees, you look up, decide you've had enough.

You get mad, you get strong, wipe your hands, shake it off...

          Then You Stand.

Go Pink Lady GO!!!! You can do it. I am on day 10 and I am still in shock. I stayed alc. free for 6 weeks last summer and am on a mission again. You will feel like a million bucks after the haze clears. It's not easy but nothing worth doing ever is. Best of luck!!!

                Thanks guys!

Reddyrnot -- Keep up the good work! 4 days is excellent! What are your symptoms?

Joesgal --- Congrats on Day 3! Thanks for the post.

Amelia --- Thanks for the advice. I will watch for that.

Beano --- You have a deal! ) Let's do this together! Congrats on Day 2! Yes, the blackouts are a major motivation for me. It's really embarrassing when I don't remember TV shows that I watched with my kids. I have even been known to talk to them like they work with me!

AlmostFamous --- WOW! 10 days! You should be very proud of yourself! I am! ) (BTW, I have enjoyed reading all your other posts also.)

I have been home now for 1 hour, and so far so good! I don't really even want anything right now. Maybe I will even go out for a walk with the dog in a bit --- one of my hypno suggestions! Must be working! :H

Pinklady - You can do this! Stay positive and focused!

There are no side effects from this that are worse then the shame and guilt we feel the morning after drinking! Your kids will be wowed by your determination and changes.

Stick with it, girl, we are all here for you!

Pinklady!!! :band2: Congrats on Day 1 - that just rocks!! It can be the start of your new and WAY improved life. I'm really happy for you - and for all others on this thread who are getting a great start to AF life as well. I'm so happy to be AF - there is not a drink in the world that would taste good enough, or make me temporarily feel good enough to be worth giving this up for. I hope you too have experiences where you just KNOW this is the right way for you to go.

                    WHEE!!!!!

And a note to all you may not have seen it yet - if you have decided to shoot for 30 days AF, check out the Monthly Abstainers section for the New 30 Day AF challenge. We're having some fun (yes, actually a little FUN while quitting the BoozeBeast - can you believe it??? ) and racking up lots of AF days between us. Happy AF day to all and especially to Pinklady!!!

I feel as though it's all happening to someone right next to me.
I'm close, I can feel it, I can hear it, but it isn't really me.

Well, I made it! It actually wasn't as hard as I thought with the supps and CD's. I only had some trouble falling asleep. Not a bad price to pay!!!

Way to go Pink Lady!!! I knew you could do it. The first 3 days seem to be the toughest for people. I have had some moments over the last 10 days but I keep busy doing something other than obsessing over alc. Keep posting and hopefully you"ll join us on the monthly abstainers New 30 day" board.
