AF Anyone??
hello everyone,
good to see you wakeupmom!
we stayed up far too late last night, ended up watching 2 movies instead of one, and guess what, I didn't fall asleep! amazing what you can do when you are af,
anyway am getting a late start this morning, but did sleep through most of the night (another af bonus) so am feeling better today.
I can relate so much to what you are all saying about being bored, that is a huge trigger for me, and have just realized that in the last few weeks. The trick is to find a balance between being busy and feeling productive to also having some down time, that is another trigger, when I have some wine I can finally let go and not feel like I have to totally be doing something "useful".
one thing that seems to have really clicked in my brain from that rational recovery site is the idea of what they call the "addictive voice", according to them it is the primal, pleasure-seeking part of our brains, it is the voice that says-"oh come on, one glass, (which for me can never stop there) won't hurt you", and you say instead of I want a drink, you say, "it"wants a drink, and it sucks being "it",
that has really helped me for some reason,
I don't know if any of what i just wrote makes sense, let me know if it doesn't and I will try to explain more clearly,
what does everyone have planned for today, I know most of you are well into the day already,
better go now, will check in later, P

well the movies weren't all that scary, the first was the new one with Halle Barry and Bruce Willis, called perfect stranger, was ok, then the next was usual suspects which I love and hadn't seen for a long time,
I decided to do your thing of one chore a day, one that i don't want to do, I am not working right now and so it is easy to put stuff off until the next day, then the next day never comes,
have a great workout! P

prose, it's funny that you wrote "of one chore a day, one that i don't want to do," because I almost wrote the exact same thing in my post about switching from summer to winter clothes. I hate that chore and for me to feel I have been productive it usually means doing something I don't want to do. I have a young neighbor (24 years) who's boyfriend recently broke up with her and she has started going to the gym with me. We walked there today as it is only about a mile from my home. She has been good support for me and my current break up. Well the gym is out of the way and now it's to the grocery store since I never made it there yesterday.
Wakeupmom, Cindi, Finski, xEMx, Jasmine hope things are well with you and look forward to AF in November.

yum now I am hungry.
yes cuckoo, I got that idea from you- so thanks for that! it is amazing how you can put something off for so long thinking it is such a huge deal, and when you finally do it it only takes a little while,
today's chore was giving my dog a bath, so that means now cleaning the bathroom and doing a load of towels, but that is ok. something to check off the "to do" list.
what kind of workouts are you doing cuckoo?
that is another thing on my list, check out the neighborhood gym, want to start some weight training. I used to do it quite a bit but then stopped, i do enough ( I think anyway) cardio now, but really miss that strong feeling that weight training gave me.
my av is starting to act up, i have had to tell it to f-off a couple of times!
I will check in later, P

prose, what kind of dog do you have? I have 2 dogs. Both mutts. I have had a total of 4 dogs in the past 16 years and they were all mutts. It's amazing how we can talk ourselves into putting off the most mundane tasks simply because we don't want to do them.
Interjection here for all posters: I believe it is in the general discussion forum that Lucky posted a you tube video called "messages from water" or something like that. Please check it out. There are 2 videos, the first is about 2 and 1/2 minutes long and the second is about 10 minutes long but they are really fascinating.
now prose, as for the workouts I do. I am alternating days with my workouts. One day I do about 40 minutes on the treadmill, starting at the maximum incline and decreasing the incline every minute to build up my legs and then do abdominal work and upper body work. The next day I just do cardio on the treadmill (no incline just quicker pace) and if I feel like it I might do some leg work. My main goal is to get back in shape.

the question is how to do the paradigm switch, i guess just catching those thoughts before they have time to take hold,
