    AF Anyone??

This is Day 2 for me AF and I'm a little concerned about tonight. Friday night's are typically my worst and I do still have some wine in the house. But, on the bright side - I feel so much better today than yesterday and I hope that the "good" feeling will be enough to carry me through until tomorrow when I can say it's Day 3 and not have to say that I'm starting all over.
How are you today Abelltoday? Best wishes to everyone for the weekend.

        AF Anyone??

        hi everyone,
got most of our errands done, now have to get my dogs out for a walk before I go to a movie with my daughter,
Betsy, i am with you in worrying about tonight- and this is day one for me! I have learned from lots of the others here that having a plan is probably one of the most important things, so I am devising one of those for myself tonight, as I will be alone and that is NOT a good thing, I am my own best drinking buddy!
PlanetJanet, good to see you again, sounds like you have a lot going on but just remember to keep posting, we are all here for you! So I am glad you are on this thread, because it is a good one..
long road, I love your avatar, fjones you are doing so well!
cuckoo, amelia, cindi, wakeup, everyone else, take care and have a great Friday,
        P

            AF Anyone??

So happy to hear from all who have posted. Strange - I don't even know you all but you seem close and so very real. Thanks for letting us newbies into your lives. Thanks for honesty. It gives me such courage to face things. I really get the comment about if I stay smashed I won't have to face things.
I'm worried about tonight too. My husband has invited friends we always drink with over tonight (very supportive but clearly clueless...)(he has apologoized and he means it - I've just been doing so well and not talking about it he forgot it was a struggle).
So hard to get to sleep last night. 3 am. I am sleepy.
I woke up with no headache though and I did have one yesterday. Maybe the gym tomorrow....a good reason not to drink tonight.

                Hi Diane,
Well it is my witching hour right now and so far so good, I have supper in the oven and managed to drive past the wine store, did think about it though....
I have this anxious feeling like I don't know what to do with myself too.Does that happen to anyone?
Anyway Diane I just wanted to wish you luck tonight with your friends, look forward to seeing your posts, and I look forward to being able to say that this was an af Friday.
Hello to everyone else, hope to read you all tomorrow! P

                  AF Anyone??

Hello everyone, just got home from the shelter, showered and chnanged, and came down here to catch on the posts. I'm so happy to see so many new people posting and want to welcome you to the thread. Anyone having trouble sleeping might want to try melatonin (although I don't think that is available in the UK) L-trytophan (which is the chemical in turkey that makes one sleepy) or valerian root. These are all homeopathic sleep remedies. I have enjoyed reading all of your posts. Planet, good luck on the 10k and your new job. Dcline I'm glad you are doing well with you AF plan. Diane stay strong through tonight. Debruce congrats on day 4 I believe. Fjones I'm so proud of your AF string. Please post with your tips and any advice. To everyone else thank you for being here as part of the team struggling to overcome this. Look forward to checking in tomorrow and seeing how everyone is doing.

I know U can get Tryptophan at any chemist in UK as of June last year when I came home. Or eat a lot of turkey.

I believe it is the melatonin you cannot get in the UK. As for the L-tryptophan one could, of course, consume turkey every night in order to induce sleep but it might be more effective to just take a pill.

                          AF Anyone??

                          Hello gang,

As I "listen" to the recent posts, I think of a good read for you femmes.... "Eating, Drinking and Overthinking". Nolen-Hoeksema presents a theory that women who battle eating disorders, alcohol abuse and depression are really suffering from a single disorder for which she has coined the term "toxic triangle." She suggests that women are more succeptible then men because women internalize, take ownership of and dwell on problems (ie: "overthinking") whereby most men tend to externalize, shrug off and blame others for problems. Hmmmmm.... thoughts to ponder.

                            AF Anyone??

I'll have to check out that book since I made it through night 2 but scarfed down 10 red licorice sticks in record time. First I'll deal with the drinking and then the eating.
It's finally raining here so I'm looking forward to a good night of sleep without wine.

                            Good night.

Morning all. Going into day 4 af for me and I'm feeling very good. Early start today to do some errands and go to the gym since I find that really helps with the attitiude. Bootsie glad to see you post here and congrats on day 7. Thanks for the suggestion on the book dcline and any insight into helping overcome this addiction is welcome. Betsy, good plan, on dealing with the drinking since it has more of a negative impact than eating. I hope you had a good night sleep.
