Teardrop Hi the Sweetpea Express is still rolling along very nicely. 64 days you absolute superstar. I have had 5 out of the last 7 days AF so am very pleased with myself. I am hoping this moderation is going to continue with the success I am having so far but only time will tell. I am going to try getting stocks of AF wine and cider in the house to aid my progress

Got through the BBQ OK had to drive because Mr East not well. He had MRI scan over a week ago and results said that he has a disc leaning on his nerve in spine. Has terrible Leg pain.

Shelby Half way already! There are a lot of people out there wanting to "cut down or stop" just too scared to admit in a social occasion for one reason or another.They just need some brave soul like yourself to speak up,Well done you made someone else feel good about going AF!

Sweetpea, just this morning had my delivery, the website address is ww.alcoholfree.co.uk
very fast service. There is a brilliant calculator on the website showing how many pounds of weight you will lose by converting to AL free over a year! It really is an eye opener! Would recommend the Merlot even though I was not a red wine drinker,better taste than white. The shiraz rose not bad either.

Mad Mummy have cracks filled and sanded in my walls but haven't got round to painting yet,it looks such a mess. Strange really I spent weeks getting daughters flat done! Just lost interest at the moment.

well yesterday i did my garden, at long last, cant believe i did not cut everything in site like i did last time there was nothing lift to cut.

Morning Crackers! This is more like it! I thought the thread died last night!! Sweet pea, it's good to have you back in full verse!!!!
MadMummy, Don't be jealous, my nap by the pool never happened. My hubby and I took the bike ride and then I just had way too much to do. Plus, I have put on so much weight, I don't even feel comfortable going down there. Maybe in a few more weeks after I have lost a few pounds.
My social activities that I was anxious about over the weekend went very well. I posted a whole story about going out on Friday under "just starting out" titled "Not sure what to do". It turned out great. My husband is a great guy.
I am concerned about my mother. Her only sibling passed away yesterday morning. He has been in poor health for several years and in a nursing home. She has not been to see him in a few years as her health has prevented her from taking the hour+ trip. She is feeling very guilty about it. My cousins did not have a very nice father's day, losing theirs. Boy, life sure comes at you fast. My Mom is already depressed and dealing with a lot of health issues and "stuff". She just didn't need another phsychological blow right now. Please keep her and my uncle's family in your prayers.
On a brighter note. It is Monday!!!!! The start of week THREE for me.

You all sound so positive, I am having a tough time, son caught shoplifting Friday, has to do community sevice for 60 hours..........................what a damper on his summer, he also told dad and I that he is gay.................I always said i would have no problem if he was gay, but right in your face it shocked me a little...............I love him the same though, we talked alot this weekend, spent some quality time together.........I ended up drinking though:upset::upset:.....................bummer!!

Oh well, sorry to be adowner, everyone have a firecrakin' day!!!

Cowgal, I drank this weekend too. I am taking Chantix to quit smoking (Today is Day 1 NF), and I decided I was going to do a little experiment and try to drink. Well, let's just say that I won't be doing that again. So it look likes no drinking for me for at least 6 weeks.

Good Afternoon Firecrackers, Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Teardrop, it was a nice weekend to work outside her as well. I have been having this chipmund issue. I think they ate the roots of my Clematis. It was blooming beautiful and then died. They have been doing the same to my primroses. I thought my little dog was chasing them all out. I must have quite a family of them. Hey wrong person on the condolences, I meant that to Rustop.

Rustop, You sure are motivated. We still have a shower remodel that needs to be tiled since Nov. Just has been one thing or another. The visit with my sister and her boyfriend have been going well as did fathers day. We have a 7up machine in the barn filled with beer and I was able to stick with Odouls all day.

Shelby, Good job setting the example. I have noticed the last couple funtions I went to and did'nt drink the folks around me seemed to drink less. Sometimes I think its that everyone else is doing it. Congrats on starting week three. I hit 40 days on fathers day and can not believe it. Thinking of your mother and sending her strength.

East, Good job with the BBQ. We had one for fathers day and my group is a bunch of drinkers. I did pretty well with AF beer and wine. I'll have to look up the weight loss calculations as I thought I would have lost more by now.

Cowgal, Sorrry to hear about the kid issues. My sisters and I got caught shop lifting in our pre teens and did not do community service but sure got in trouble and felt humilated. Lets hope he learned his lesson as my friend with us at the time continued to shop lift and got in trouble with the law.

East have they suggested doing anything to Mt East's disc to help with all the pain he is suffering - it is so debilitating when you are constantly in pain - give him my good wishes and hope they resolve things soon for him. Thanks for the info on the AF wine I shall give it a go. When I am having AF days I am not doing too bad at all but it is the habit of having something in the evening that I find difficult so if I can fool my pea brain into thinking that I am having something special it should help with the thought process

Teardrop glad the garden is looking good - I am not very good at gardening as I don't know a flower from a weed unless it has a label on it:H

Shelby well done on starting week three. So sorry to hear about your uncle it must have been very distressing for everyone especially for your cousin losing her dad on fathers day - my thought and prayers are with you, your mum and the rest of the family

Ma what a weekend you also had. I hope the 60 days community service will be a wake up call for your son - I am glad you managed to have some quality time together to talk through his admission that he is gay - it will take time to come to terms with. We love our kids no matter what, but it is a little like a bereavement because the life you had got mapped out in your mind for him is going to be completely different to how it will be - but he will feel a lot happier knowing that you now know and he has not got to hide his true feelings - He will still be that wonderful loving person but he will just do things differently - he will need your love and support all the more now:l

It must of taken him a lot of courage to come forward and open up to you both. At least he has not got to hide from it no more. Im glad you spent quality time with him.

Hi Firecrackers,

Last night Mr East and I had to go along to the restaurant where his party is to be held on saturday to make the final arrangements. The owner is a long time friend and is closing the restaurant to the public for our party,something he never usually would do.
The staff told us that the boss was in the courtyard waiting for us. He was cooking some delicious steaks and fish on the BBQ and had drinks poured for us for tasting for the guests!
I went into a bit of a panic, ate the food and well had to drink in the end.You cannot refuse hospitality from an Italian they feel insulted. I had no plan because I was not expecting to be eating or drinking just discussing decorations and music!
Just needed to fess up but it will be a lot easier on saturday,we have over 90 guests so I don't think It will be noted that If I do not drink.
I felt dreadful this morning not my usual self on waking and told Mr East that I much prefer drinking my AF having not had this morning after feeling for so long! He said that he too did not want to drink as well,(taking the meds for his back) but he felt that it would have been rude. I did not feel quite so guilty at that point! Well I am on the straight and narrow today and will keep away from the italian drink Lemoncello at the party! Looks harmless but looks can be deceiving!

Sweetpea have to wait for appointment for specialist,doc has written letter.

Teardrop We have squirrels here that cause damage.

Good Morning!!!!!

East-OOOOh, I know the devilish ways of Limoncello!!!!! One of my co-workers makes his own!!! We had an office retreat last sept and he brought his travel bar. One night after dinner we all met in his room to watch something on tv and for his limoncello! He had made shot glasses out of chocolate! OMG!!! It was crazy good. Then, he gave each one of us a little personal size bottle of it. It is still in my freezer. I am rambling!!!

Lukalee-Boy, I remember when I quit smoking!!! I have to say, it was harder than quitting AL. Hang in there baby! Be kind to yourself and those around you. I turned in to a big bad witch!!! LOL

Kat20 -those chipmunks ain't as cute as they are on tv. Alvin and Simon weren't diggin up people's gardens...........

Cowgal-Sorry to hear about the trouble your son got into, but glad you were there for him in his time of need. What a huge step for him.

Day 17 starting for me. Heading out to my Mom's to take her to my Uncle's funeral. She sounds ok on the phone. She says she is doing ok. Maybe my worries are for naught. She is a hard woman to read. She and I are totally different. She hides her emotions and I wear them on my sleeve. I wish at times, I could hide my feelings more.

Weather looks set to be miserable for a fair few days which has helped to dampen my mood somewhat. I am feeling very down for no particular reason and when I look around and see how much other people have to cope with I feel ashamed with myself. In the bad old days I would have partied with :alf: BUT I am not going to do that because I have been moderating really well and do not want to go down that slippery slope. Instead I am going to go for a long walk - yep in the rain:H - Do lots of jobs and keep busy - my emotions seem to be very :teeter: but I must reign them in and focus on all the positives. Like everyone else this battle with AL is continuous and all consuming. I keep thinking this moderating is where I want to be then I am not so sure because even though I am in control, the beast is always at the back of my mind. I want to moderate without thinking about it all the time - maybe this will come in time, maybe it never will and I will take the decision to stay AF. Must be part of the journey I suppose:dunno:

Enough of my self pity there are more important things to think about and that is being there for the rest of you crackers:hug:

Rustop hope all the packing is going well. Where are you off to somewhere with better weather than here i hope xx

Teardrop do you mean I could tell by the feel of the weeds????? I suppose if I have bits sticking into my fingers it would be a bit of a clue!!!!!! I am really useless when it comes to gardening - OR - a cunning plan to get out of doing it:H

East I soooooooo love Italian food and I quite agree with you that he would have been offended if you didn't try the drinks especially as they were already poured. That lemocello is awesome stuff and very yummy. If you can't resist on Saturday don't beat yourself up as it is a very special day BUT if you resist I will personally award you the FIRECRACKER TROPHY for being a star and NO there is no booby prize if you have a couple as it will be a measured moderating decision - which is where most of us want to be xx
