Day 40 AF

Hi FC's,

I have avoided posting yesterday and today because I did not feel I had anything positive to say. Which seems to have been the case the last couple of months I have just got home from a funeral of an old friend who died suddenly and feel very sad.
I thought I would check out the news here and feel so touched by your comments and especially my "Guardian Angel" Flutterby who has a sixth sense when it comes to the right thing to say. Thank you so much for the lovely poem Fby:l

I have reached day 40 AF today, despite wading through a sea of assorted emotions during that time, I suppose this to normal people who do not have a problem with addiction is part of everyday life, something that for me I have medicated daily with alcohol,so that I did not have to "feel" anything.
At the funeral today I looked around while upset myself to see everyone elses pain. I felt as I do here that I was not alone and drew strength from that. I must say that all you "guys" have helped me tremendously and I hope that I have in return.....
I fear this new life and I am still learning but it is what I want. I will try my best to succeed!

Mad Mummy, One of my first lessons here was that I should NOT beat myself up,it just encourages me to run away and medicate some more, so two glasses is not so bad,just jump back on the wagon and keep riding you will get there.

Rustop you are right we should not stay away when things get tough.
I hope with a little care your lawn will back as good as new,with all this rain I think I can see my grass growing!

East, I am so sorry about your friend. I understand how it is all so hard to deal with emotions, even everyday normal stuff. It becomes especially hard when we have to deal with "the big stuff". Hang in there, we are all here for you.

East I am so sorry about your friend and the pain you are feeling right now. The passing away of someone that you hold dear is such a traumatic experience my love and prayers are with you. I understand that you did not feel like posting because sometimes words cannot express your inner turmoil. Just know that we are all here for you whenever you need us. You have always been a tower of strength to us all so know that we would want to be here for you when things are so tough for you:l Day 41 is fantastic given everything you have been going through xx xx

East... sorry to hear about your friend...your post made me cry...I think we are all leaning. Its like re -build our lifes without AL and coping with our emotions as well.... the more you try the more you will succeed east... i have a lot of faith in you... well done 41days keep going.:goodjob:

This weekwend feels like the beast is testing me out...going out on friday with friends, before my friend goes back home.... so i said i will drive...Why is it they keep on saying are you sure you want to drive and saying its a friday night you know!
Saturday got a holy communion party to go to, but cant drive because this one is next door it will start about 4pm in the evening and end midnight... so i need to have a big plan for myself. Im always the one in the kitchen and dont stop pouring the wine out... i have thought about taking with me AF wine. wish i coud stay at home!
THIS WILL BE ONE BIG TEST FOR ME I FEEL, IF I CAN GET THROUGH THIS, IT MEANS MORE TO ME THEN DOING 30DAYS AF, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!...THIS IS MY WEAK POINT (GOING OUT.) and also at home.

Happy May Everyone!

It's not raining so far so has to be good! Have had bad "witchen" hours the last two evenings - really WANT WINE! And seem to be more freaked cos we don't have any at home, this is mad isn't it? But have managed to pass through it - keeping busy is the answer I realise that now. Have started doing some decorating, long overdue, and trying to get out and run but the weather isn't with me this week!

Hope we all have a brilliant May.

Happy May 1st!!!!!!!!!! Summer is approaching fast, and I just love it!!!
Teardrop, those are the thoughest situations, but they are very doable. We can't keep ourselves locked away from the world forever!!! With the party next door, if you feel pressured and need a break, just walk back home for awhile and come on here or whatever you can. And I agree, making it through these types of situations means more to me than any number can. For this 30 day sabbatical I have only allowed myself a couple of incidences where I was around AL. It makes it easier when wrapped in a little cocoon, but living life and doing normal things without AL is the true test.
I know you can do it, and you will have fun too!!!

Sorry that I made you cry,seems that emotions are at the surface when we are sober.
Thats why we mask them with alcohol,when we feel nervous ,irritable,sad,weak I could go on......
Please don't worry about the social occasions you have,try to have a plan BEFORE you go. Yesterday I had the funeral and ate out where there was drink in the evening.
I stuck to cranberry juice or Tonic water. In a glass looks like alcohol and no questions are asked,you look as if you are drinking.
If like me you always hung around the kitchen and poured your own drinks, excellent, pour only what you PLANNED on having. It will not be easy but you will feel great when you succeed!
As another thread said, "The drink will not taste as good as sober feels the next day!"
I know you can do it Teardrop just have faith in yourself you have come soooo far.

You are so right! We have to LIVE LIFE, thats the next step after being AF.
Like when you passed your driving test, sooooo excited and happy I almost kissed the examiner! But getting into a car by myself and doing it on my own hairaising without the protection of the Learner plates.

Lukalee...thank you its a good thing i'm next door knowing i can come on here if i feel i'm struggling. You are so right it is so easy to wrap our self up in a little cocoon some of the xmas partys i did not go to last year because i knew i was to weak to say no.
To live life doing normal things without AL is the ture test, like you said and the big test.
YOU KNOW THINKING AHEAD I DONT THINK I WOULD OF DID THIS A FEW MONTHS AGO.

Dont be sorry east a good cry is good . i think i will have a few tears at the church on saturday The kids are from the school i work out at lunch time.it will bring back time when my two made there holy communion. Sweetpea you have a really good break - and the weather is supposed to be improving next week (what is it with us Brits and the weather???)

Thanks Teardrop - it is a real demon all this isn't it? I gave in last night and allowed hubbie to go and buy wine, and then I felt better (not having drunk any but just knowing it was there) how mad is that? Have notice something though since I have enormously cut down on the AL I'm getting so much more done, not putting things off as much - brilliant. Will be thinking of you all weekend with the party etc - just do your best it's all you can do.

DAY 27 AF

Sweetpea, I hope you have a nice week with friends!!!!
Day 27, and I should not have a problem getting through the weekend. The kids are with their father tonight, but they have a festival at their school that I will be going to. Early tomorrow morning I am going for a hike with a neighbor friend. After that, I will pick up the kids and clean the house. Sunday, more work. Yea!!!!
It's weird, I don't plan on being completely AF, but this 30 days is a lot different than my first and only 30 days. The last time I drank on day 31; I just couldn't wait to make it!!! This time, my goal is to drink no more than one evening in May. I try to picture myself drinking, and I think "That's not very attractive." So we will see what happens; I guess just ODAT after the 30.

Have a busy week-end. Girls are off school today and Monday and Tuesday so wont get near the computer much. I too have a communion Sunday but am driving so that takes care of that. I have done that in the past, rewarded myself for doing the 30 days with AL!!! This time I want to keep going and am aiming for an AF May. Hi to everyone else and have a great week-end.
