    Hello--I'm new here

    Welcome to MWO

Welcome Skydance, Sandie, and Lowercas :welcome:

You've come to the right place. I too have a love for white wine (California) which is what I have been drinking for over 20 years now. And yes, when we go AF after all those years of drinking, we are not always happy even though we feel better. We don't know what to do with ourselves, because drinking took up so much of our time. I used to always say I don't have enough time to do everything around the house, work full time, and take care of my children, blah, blah, blah. But you know what, I do now. The first day I went AF, I sat down on a chair and flipped through every channel on the TV quite a few times. Never found anything to watch. Then I got up and just paced the house for a while until it was time to go to bed. But now I'm finding things to do, and it is so much better. I haven't been totally AF since I joined on 11/12/07, but I have racked up 7 AF which includes tonight.

So join in with the rest of us and good luck to you
    Miss October :blinkylove:

      Hello--I'm new here

      Welcome, Lower Cas

It's a pleasure to meet you! How are you keeping? I believe you will find this group extremely supportive and helpful. I have--and I've only been here two days.

Are you taking medication to alleviate your need to drink? My doctor prescribed Naltrexone for me. With that, the book & the hpynosis CDs, I have been able to stay AF for a week. I highly recommend the book and the CDs, if you haven't already ordered them.

Hang in there! And deep peace of the Shining Star to you

        Hello--I'm new here

        SkyDancer -

I have been on Topamax 25mg for a week and although I have cut down a lot on my drinking, I have not had one AF day yet. I am increasing to 50 mg tomorrow per my doctors instructions. I am taking all the supplements mentioned in the book including the kudzu and have been on them for a week also. I feel my energy improving greatly!! I would recommend you take them if your energy is feeling low. From what my doctor told me, there is no problem with taking any supplements with any of the meds. I wish you the best.

          Hello--I'm new here

I'm fairly new here but one of the great things about this website and especially this group is that I can't go to any social event without them with me. They follow me where ever I go, their words in my ear...........its REALLY annoying sometimes.........just kidding! I think thats why I'm going to succeed. It a wealth of information and an abundance of support and love.

          Welcome

            Hello--I'm new here

            Hi Sky,

Moodiness and lack of energy are VERY normal until your body adjusts and heals. I think part of the reason the book authors felt good so quickly had a lot to do with the supplements. Alcohol saps a lot of major nutrients out of your system, and causes you not to be able to absorb several others properly. All of that sets you up for a bunch of nasty and potentially long lasting physical and emotional imbalances. Here's a few short-term things to try: (until/unless you find a combo that works best for you - or do the MWO supplements)

            Energy:

            - Hi B-complex multivitamin (with trace minerals, perferably)
            - Bee Pollen & Royal Jelly complex
            - Ginseng complex with Eleuthero
            - Suma root

            Mood:

            - 5HTP (di-hydro form, to avoid upset stomach)
            - Omega 3
            - Amino essentials
            - Reduce sugar to stablize glucose levels (substitute with Xylitol or Stevia )
            -Patty-
