forgot about the "off like a prom dress" .. that's fun. Marbella, 'prom" is a big dance in the U.S. in high school where couples get dressed up and it's said to be an occasion where many girls find themselves out of their prom dresses by the end of the evening , often after a bit of alcohol consumption of course ..

the "junk in the trunk" is good too .. "baby got back" is another phrase meaning the same thing. Also, men say "I wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers" when they think a woman is good-looking

Tawny---now you've reminded me of another. I had a friend who had an angry confrontation with a city official once, to get a problem solved in her neighborhood. When I asked how the meeting went, she said, "Darlin', let me tell you---I ripped him a new asshole!"

My mother had one whose origins are obscure. She used to say, "Well, I have a piece of Spanish news for YOU." Meaning, time to think twice about something we wanted to do and couldn't. No idea why "bad news" was Spanish.

Our housekeeper/cook/general wonderful person had a euphemism for a good whipping. If we were in trouble and needed spanking, she'd say she was "fixin' to go outside and get us some peachtree tea." That meant she was going to cut a switch off a bush and "wear our little bottoms out." My brother got switched often, but the girls never did...some gender bias I suppose. I think my dad told her to threaten us often, but not actually carry it out.
