Crack of sparrow fart - very early morning

Early doors - as soon as the pub opens

Makes a better door than a window - someone who stands in the way/blocks your view

          One of my favourites ............

Mad as a bag of hares (no idea why a bag of hares should be madder than any other British native mammal but who says these have to make sense!!)

Love all these, specially the southern states ones. I can just imagine them being said in a Scarlett O'Hara drawl!

I'm in a pickle here - In a bit of a mess (normally when I have had too much drink !! In the bad old days of cause!!)

Bessie another take on the Hares is the Saying - As mad as a March Hare (why March I don't know!!) :nutso:

              :H Sweet pea :H

Sweet pea - that I do know!

Hares start breeding in March and do exhibit some really wonderful, mad looking behaviour - they box and run around in circles and generally do their energetic courting and male v male stuff. They do look pretty mad then!

Not the sharpest knife in the block - a bit dim (has been used to describe me!!)

If he had half a brain he'd be dangerous - another description for somebody being a bit thick

                  Screwed the pooch
                  - messed up big time

                  In a flat spin
                  - in a panic/flap

Just remembered another one when I was posting a reply

Slugging it down my neck - drinking one drink after another very quickly :toasted:

                        also

It doesn't touch the sides - drinking so quickly that it doesn't have the chance to touch the sides :egad:

                        :H Sweetpea

                          Erratum:-

"Southern Jessies" in UK are not in fact confined to those living south of Birmingham.

This term applies to all living south of the Scottish Border!
