What I hate about drinking!!!!

1.the blackouts
2.the embarassment i caused myself and others
3.how im changed to a totally different nasty person-and people who i dont know think this is "me"
4.the secrets i spilled
5.the not remembering
6. vomiting the next day till six,seven pm
7. mental depression and anxiety over the previous night..wish i didnt have the problem.. just be normal

my husband doesn't drink and he embarrasses me, is nasty, is awful, tells secrets, stabs me in the back, cusses... doesn't remember a thing, seems depress, cusses all the time, 24/7.... and seems depressed... and I drink just to numb my emotions over having to live with the nightmare of his life... God am I ever depressed because of him... geeze what a life. whats that called? co-dependency or something...

7. Feeling like I do today
6. Doing dangerous, stupid, and yes, even life-threatening things when intoxicated
5. Having my DP pull a back muscle trying to peel me off the hallway floor where I fell face down
4. Feeling like a total loser because at my age I'm still fighting the same demons I was fighting 30 years ago.
3. The isolation of not being able to go anywhere for fear of a DUI, and yet feeling the need to "shore up" by having a few drinks before socializing. Catch 22.
2. Having a friend call my parents in the middle of the night to come bail me out of jail (we're talking 1980 here, so that shows you how long I've been screwing up)
1. The worst: REGRETS! Regretting the grey hairs and worry I caused my poor dear mom and not having any way to make it up to her because she's gone now. :upset: god! That's the worst...that's also what makes me want to drink even more. Weird, huh?

On a lighter note: like a couple of others here...start drinking around 8:30am on Saturdays, so who has energy for exercise? :moon:

Having to dig all the way to the bottom of the garbage can to put your beer bottles in there, so your spouse won't know how much you're drinkin' :duhme:

Oh yeah, I forgot another big reason I hate drinking...

Did I mention that I'm a cancer survivor? Diagnosed in 2001. Did surgery, chemo and radiation...the whole nine yards. Do you think that stopped me from visiting my old friend - the beer fridge?

GRRRR you know what sucks to.. my neighbors seeing me throw out all that alcohol KNOWING I LIVE ALONE...

What I hate about drinking!!!!

Dex, I think I have been hovering rock bottom for quite a long time now, my husband who does not drink (only on occasion) would talk about people he knew who hit rock bottom and their stories, and I wasn't even close,so I thought.(total denial) 11 days ago I chose to take my dog to the beach(with my beer of course) I was pulled over that afternoon for not having my vehical inspected in the right state( I had just moved) and my plates did not match my inspection sticker. I had open container and a good buzz going at the time. Either he could not smell my breath or just did not want to bother with the paperwork he let me go with a warning on my inspection. I remember praying to get home okay and promised not to ever do somthing stupid like that again. I made it home, and not only have I not d&d again I quit altogether. I thank god for the 2nd chance he gave me, and I dont plan on risking my life or anyone elses agian.
I guess the thing I like about not drinking so far is going to sleep at night with a sincere smile on my face and looking forward to the tomarrows.

Rockbottom

Hi everyone!
Haven't been around for a while as my baby's been seriously ill and I'm afraid I've used alcohol to relieve the stress (am a single parent). It's true, everyone has a different level of 'rockbottom'. I don't get blackouts or even feel very drunk any more after the nightly bottle (sometimes more) of wine, but feel I have reached the bottom now as I've started to dream each night of becoming ill and not being there for my son and my baby and wake up screaming!!!

What I hate about drinking (from when I used to do it in public!)

1.Having to trudge down to the pub car park the morning after to retrieve my vehicle feeling sick and hungover, remembering falling off my barstool...

2.My Son telling his Grandma 'Mummy was very drunk last night and she nearly fell over'.

3. Waking up in a friends spare room with a vague recollection of her husband having had sex with me

4.Having no recollection of arranging to meet a friend because I arranged it when drunk

5. Having to keep going to throw up in the toilet whilst watching my son have his swimmimg lesson due to drinking the previous night. Knowing I shouldn't have driven to get there...

Yes... Losing cell phones. Very annoying.
Losing keys/Locking keys in car while it is running.
Losing purse (credit cards etc..)
Losing mind.

Now I can say that I'm losing the booze. This will probably help with all the above.
