    Upliftingg bbooks

Does anyone have any uplifting books to reccccommend--notg necessarily alcohol or recovery related. I just feel so down in the dumps and could really use an inspiring, uplifting read (or move, though it has to be on VHS). Thansk.

PinkP, I just finished *Chocolat* by Joanne Harris. I had seen the movie, and the book is EVEN better! We also love Nick Hornby's *High Fidelity* and *About a Boy*---also movies, but again, better on paper! And I've become a huge fan of Bill Bryson---non-fiction essays. He's funny, informative, and entertaining. A kind of cross between Garrison Keillor and James Thurber. Try *A Walk in the Woods* and *Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid.*

The Nanny Diaries is a funny one. Also Dry by Augusten Burroughs. It is about his recovery but it is so funny.
