Drink lots of liquids. Take lots of vitamins, tons and tons of vitamin C (Ester C) and extra cal-mag, and amino acids. Sleep (if you can). If you have restlessness and anxiety, calms forte helps. Eat well. umm, sure someone will come with more advice soon.

      Hi Lowercas

You don't say how much you have actually drank. If in doubt always get medical help is the message that I have read on the threads. It is serious if you suddenly stop after drinking so much.

In saying that you did say that you had 40+ AF so I am assuming that it is the sudden intake of alcohol that is making you feel so bad. Hopefully someone else will come on and give more advice for you.

My love and support is with you but as I am not medically qualified I would not like to give advice that may be bad. The only thing I would say if it was me - In the absence of anyone else coming on line - is I would be keeping warm, taking loads of warm fluid and if the shakes are really very bad take a small and I MEAN SMALL amount of alcohol to stop the shakes. Drink is like any other drug you suddenly can't stop if you have been taking a huge amount. You need to wean yourself off it

Sorry I can't be of anymore help

I was also thinking as sweetpea that you might want to consult a doctor. But if you were 40+ days AF and then just had a binge, you are probably not in the danger zone. It's more likely just a bad hangover. But only you yourself can know, so if you feel really bad, I agree you should consult a doctor.

And taking a little alcohol is a good idea only if you are sure you can limit it to one drink. Finding My Self posted an interesting thread about this, how she weaned herself from alcohol by drinking small bits at regular intervals and decreasing them rather quickly over a couple days, I think. This is probably a safer way to detox than cold turkey, but most people can't do that ( a small bit=2 small bits=3 small bits, etc).

            How are you feeling?

Thinking of you Lowercas. Continue to nurture yourself. You will feel better again soon and will be back on the road to recovery. I'm happy to read you say, "the binge wasn't worth it". It really wasn't it. You have done a terrific job making it to 40+ days AF. You will achieve this again. A next "slip" will be less likely or at least, "farther then few between".

                      Lowercas,

I am so sorry you fell back into the abyss but look at it as a true learning experience, please!! My very wise 83 year old mama says, "Most good decisions in life are based on past bad decisions." We sure could use someone like her on our shoulders more often.

I do hope you do not have to detox again. but, if you do, you do. Do not stop abruptly if you have been drinking a lot. Okay? (Just caring about your health, here.)

However, if you just binged for a short time and did not get back to the dependent zone, do lots of water, lots of vitamin C, lots of vitamin B, amino acids, if you can. (Otherwise, don't do anything but those make life easier...)

And join us again on the AF threads.

Glad you are here and looking forward to your support as you go AF and beat this thing!!

                      Love,

I am trying desperately to pick up what your grandmother is putting down.

I know alcohol isn't my friend anymore. It seems so strange going about my daily activities completely sober.

I feel disoriented. I must have killed off some crucial brain cells.

How long will this last and how do I get rid of the psychological cravings?
