    Brand New Day

Mike, you are doing great. A slip, a blip, but you didn't let it out of hand. You realized that and dumped that drink! Good for you!

Have enjoyed reading your posts and seeing such a positive change in you. Happy New Year, Happy Day 1 AF! You've been an inspiration!

      Brand New Day

hi mike, its day 1 for me and already a struggle, its as if knowingi can't makes it more tempting. i didnt have many last nite but still felt bad this morning, i know i will do this ,its getting past the 7pm ish time , why is it so difficult? you did well to only have 2 drinks and get rid of the rest, dont be hard on yourself.
i have my doubts if i am stirong enough to go af but i can only try, i am so tempted allready, relaxing, it is so easy to just get a glass, but i cant possibly fail on day 1, if i make it today i hope it gets easier, take care. happy new year.

wjr, it does get easier. You have to remember that it is a process and you will get stronger about getting past the 7 pm hour. I've had 7 days af, 5 days af and then 3 days af with slips in between.

I don't consider slipping bad, I refuse to feel guilty or beat myself up. It took me a long time to get to where I was. I just know I have to be patient to get to where I want to be. Completely blew it Xmas eve and Xmas, but now am going on 7 day af.

        Stay strong.

I totally agree. I used to beat myself up when I slipped, and it just led to harder drinking. "I blew it", I used to tell myself, "so I guess that shows I can't quit." Wrong attitude. Every day is a brand new day, a day of hope.

              Brand New Day

Yes, it is a brand new day.

              Hi Mike With A Dream,

:welcome: This is a great place to be. Just read through this entire thread. You may not know it, but you are very inspirational to us all. Don't worry about your slip, you are already right back on track. I joined in Nov 2007 and have had a few AF days, but Dec was a tough month. I have been a nightly wine drinker for over 20 years. It is very very difficult to stop. I love reading through these threads for the inpiration that I need. So anyway, I made it through tonight.....completed Day One AF....great way to start the new year.....Yes !!

I was just going through my new 2008 calendar called "The Path".....Finding Your Way On Life's Journey. And from one of those month's, here is one for "Mike With A Dream".....or for anyone else who has a dream.....

                Mike,
I just read your thread and its people like you who really inspire the rest of us. I would encourage you to not be afraid to branch out and use the supplements in addition to Campral. The supplements (amazingly) really help boost your mood! Your body has been so depleted of vitamins and minerals whilst drinking. Even if you were getting lots of nutrients through your diet, the alcohol blocks the body from absorbing them. So vitamin therapy is SO crucial in those first few weeks and months. The Milk thistle has no side effects at all that I have heard of, and it really helps your liver to mend and restore. And B-vitamins will help boost that energy level you are looking for and help your mood tremendously. The ALL ONE powder has most of these much-needed vitamins and amino acids, and I really believe you will notice an immediate difference for the better in your energy and mood if you start on them. Maybe you have already, and if so I hope you are feeling better!

Its great to have you here and I look forward to watching your continued success!! Hopefully having some new people here that are a few steps behind will help keep you motivated as well! Either way, we are here for you.

                All the best,
                Allie

                    Brand New Day

Wjr...... Come on, think about it....
Have you fallen, or are you like the old lady who has fallen and can't get back up?

Three Days. You say that like it was no big deal. HELLLOOOO??? WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WENT THREE DAYS????? Cut yourself some slack, dude. :truce: Of course, the bottle of wine is gonna wink at you. It's gonna wink:thumbsup, and smile :lilangel: , and make a lot of empty promises.

There's a couple scenarios of how tonight will end- your choice.
#1. Look at that beer bottle...... Lick your lips, and savor the flavor. Because beer DOES taste good, and you better be enjoying it if you are drinking it. You've had one beer.... but do you plan on having 12 or 18 more? :flush: Decide. One of the funniest one-liners I heard on the Comedy Channel is: "What is your favorite beer?" and the guy answers, "It's either the eighth or the ninth one, I can't remember"....

#2. Forgive yourself. Learn from it, and keep going. Remember, Mike's thread is called a Brand New Day
. We are all human. We make mistakes. But as one of the MWO members says, "I have not failed 1000 times. I have successfully found 1000 ways that do not work. "

Whatever happens tonight, come back tomorrow. And, be hopeful that there will
be a day that YOU are AF for countless days, and you're able to help somebody struggling with their Day 3.

                      Brand New Day

Patty is right. 3 days is a big deal. The more you beat yourself up, the easier it is to find an excuse to drink. You have to think of it in more positive ways. It's not a failure, it's a lesson.

I did 7 days, slipped, did 5, slipped, did 3, slipped, did 7 slipped and am now going on 3.
but I feel stronger today and better about myself, then I have in years. That's a total of 27 days since the beginning of November. Did I slip? Yeh, BIG TIME. But 27 days, I damn proud of it.

I'm dealing with all my stress better, feel better physically, mentally.

Patty, again, is right. Just look at the name of the guy posting this thread. Mike with a Dream. Read all of his entries again, you can just feel the change in him. You've got good people who will support you, because we've all been there.

the farther you can get away from the negative feelings (they take too much energy), the easier it is to heal.

See, Mike, you are an inspiration to ALL of us!
