Newbies in Need - ODAT - Mon.

Well, older newbies & real new newbies, this is the final Newbies in Need ODAT thread for 2007. I've been taking stock of my year. I've had a lot of big things take place this year, many of them very beneficial. However, by far, my sobriety at the end of the year has been the biggest & the best. Finding MWO in April (I'm not sure how it happened) was an act of divine intervention, because simply sharing & reading on this website helped me get control of my drinking. As of today, I have 87AF days. I can't tell you how many years it's been since I could say that...15 - 20 years, at least. Good Luck to all. Mary

Thanks Mary, you inspire me. I had a great year on the surface of my life in 2007, big promotion, etc, but yet 2007 was one of the darkest ones of my life.

Reading your words and those of others here who are successful in accomplishing the one thing I want most desperately in my life is helping me plan for my own success.

As I said yesterday, I have such mixed emotions right now, but I'm optimisitic probably for the first time in a few years, and that's because of all I'm reading here. While I await for all my packages to arrive, I am cutting back dramatically, exercising, taking vitamins and mentally getting ready.

I know I can do this....

      Mary,

You truly are an inspiration to others. I have had my share of ups and downs throughout 2007 and although I am still not where I want to be I am getting closer and finishing the year on a high note. I am moderating quite nicely at the moment - something I would have thought impossible - and getting other areas of my life on track too. I can't wait to get stuck in to the upcoming year.

Mary, to you and all my other friends at MWO, all the very best for a very happy and prosperous new year!!

      Raoul xx

Thanks Mary. You are an inspiration. I too can count this year as a good one for finding this site. It's been hard work in other areas and I have been a bit bashed about by stress but I have made some positive steps to change that and some very positive steps to beat Al. Here's to the very best 2008 for everyone.

Thank you everyone for your kind words about me. I must say that my new-found sobriety has really unleashed a lot of optimism & good feeling that was stored up inside. Regardless of how wonderful my life seemed on the outside (wonderful husband, great family, material success, etc.), all the energy was being sucked out of it by the drinking. Now that I'm not drinking, I can see what the widespread effects were...that's why I was so desperate to stop. Don't let go of your goals, no matter what! You all can do what I did, because you only have to say: "I'm not drinking today." Mary
