Newbies in Need - ODAT Tuesday

    Hi all you ODATers!

Hope everyone had a great Monday!

It's 2:14 am here but I am finding that sleeping is a little difficult these days. So I figured I'd start the thread.

Day 3 for me - yesterday was a little hard as I'm still a little emotional right now but I made it through - at least I was feeling a lot better physically - it's so great to wake up without a hangover! I am determined to get 30 days under my belt - it is important to me to reach that milestone. There are quite a few of us aiming for that - I fell a little behind some of you but I am determined to catch up. Taking the supps I'm finding is really helping so I plan to continue with that.

I hope that everyone has a great Tuesday whether af/mods - ODAT.

    Big hugs,
    Uni

    Hi everyone.

Thanks for starting the thread Universal. Big welcome to the newer newbies who joined us yesterday.

Well done on Day 3 Universal, you can do it. I'm on Day 8 and the cravings really hit last night. Luckily I had Becks AF beer in the fridge and I went for that instead of hubby's wine!! AL is very sneaky, you can go days without even thinking of him and then all of a sudden he appears.

It's lashing rain here so it does not look like I will get for my walk. Never mind, I need to take all the xmas decorations up into the attic, ugh!!

    Have a great Tuesday everyone.

Good morning all. Temperature is going to be 64 degrees here today. It'll seem like spring.

Universal, awesome! Waking up hangover-free is fabulous. Good job!

Just got a supply of supps from mwo yesterday, I had bought them on my own, but thought that I'd get them from here and follow the directions that came with them.

Rustop, good job for you too! I think AL visited me after stopping in to see you. Had a bottle of AF wine in the fridge. Had a glass and half of a second. Took away my taste for AL, showed him the door. Find it hard at night, coming home from work (lots of stress yesterday). Being alone, it was so easy to have a drink or two, self-medicate, in order to fall asleep. I had no one to answer to. Now I have to get to know myself again.

Welcome to all ODATers and Newbies today!

        Good Morning All -

Uni - WTG! I was weepy, too, on day 3. Try to envision the tears as poison exiting your system. It helped me to think that I was "purging" my system of alcohol. God bless you.

Rustop - Am with you on day 8. Had a football gathering here last night for the OSU/LSU championship game. I stuck with flavored water (LOTS of it) and surprised myself and my guests with an AF evening.

Suki - Way to show AL the door!! Waking hangover-free feels fantastic, doesn't it?

Onward soldiers! Have a wonderful day!

Masq......woke up in a bit of a funk. Changed my mood from Amused to Hopeful. Posted, but came back to get a dose of support. Read your post. then read your location. LMAO. It's so good to start a day off with a good laugh. Thanks for starting mine that way! Hope your team won last night (you obviously did!). (I could just picture myself sitting inside a bottle of Absolut, like a ship in a bottle.)

Am changing my mood back to Amused. :thanks: :thanks: :h :h

This thread makes me feel stronger each day. I have not given up, in fact each attempt makes me feel like I can do 30 days AF. Universal, we can do this! Going to get some AF wine in the house to prepare for that day 5, thanks Rustop and Suki for that tip. Masquerade I saw the beginning of that game, it was good to see them in the stadium again, I know there have been other games there but it was the first time I saw a stadium view since Katrina.

Mary I just want to tell you that your words of wisdom I carry with me, especially when you said, cravings last less than a minute, less than a minute! It is my mantra now. Just want you all to know there are lots of folks listening and taking away tools from these boards.

Have a great day! :h Suz

              Suki -

Glad I made you smile!! I resided inside the Grey Goose bottle DAILY for the past 3-4 years. It's wonderful being outside ... breathing fresh air ... and having hope again.

Am licking my wounds over my Buckeyes' loss ... but it is sooooo much easier withOUT a hangover.

Suz, missed that quote from Mary, about cravings lasting less than a minute. Will have to keep repeating that. Thanks for posting that! :thanks: :h

Ok, going to be late for work AGAIN! Have to get up earlier than 5:00 am to get my daily dose of you guys AND get to work on time.

Masq, going to be 64 degrees here today. So glad I am outside of that bottle and able to enjoy that fresh, sea breeze. Hi ho, I'm off to work now. Somewhere between Sleepy and Happy.

                      Morning everyone
Sounds like everyone is doing well. Emotions seem to be all over the board, especially that first week...Our mind and body are saying WTF???..Hold on to that feeling of empowerment..we are in control!!!....When you feel you are at the end of your rope, tie and knot and hang on!!!...it is so worth it.

I am here today yet to have an af day under my belt for awhile. i keep coming back for support. I reread my posts from last spring when i was af for 60m days. It seemed so effortless then. Why does it seem so hard now? I did dump the rest of the holiday booze down the drain last night, after having a few I will keep coming. Thanks all rudemama

                            Good Morning Everyone !

Universal, thanks so much for starting the thread this morning. Well done on completing 2 days and working on your 3 AF today. I know you can do it, and you will feel so much better.

Hi Rustop, I'm right there by your side. Great job in having the upper hand on AL last night. I Completed 7 AF days last night, as Al never visited me last night. I just went right for the tea.

Suki, It's going to be 65 degrees or warmer here today too. I'm so excited for that, I'm going to go out for a 3 mile run at lunch time, and to think last week with the wind chill it was below zero. And good for you too of chasing AL away last night.

Masq, Great job on a AF evening with your guests. It feels soooo good the next morning. Keep up the great work, it keeps me wanting to continue my AF days.

Suzanna, I agree with the cravings only lasting so long. We CAN DO IT !

Charlee, thanks for the words of encouragement.

Happy Life, thanks so much for the congrats on yesterday's thread. It was so huge I can't imagine the size font, when I reach the end of January TAF (I'm hoping, but it's ODAT)

Good Luck to all and all ODATers to follow. Have a great day :wavin:

I have been staying away from here because I have not been AF and am feeling really guilty. Today I am recommitting to do this. I really feel like I am losing the battle. I want so much to be where some of you are. So I will be checking back in and hopefully staying AF.
