Well, last night I sat the wife down and told her (admitted out loud) that I have a bad AL problem, that I had been on here to see what help I could find, and I also told her that I knew I had promised before to get this under control and had failed. I told her I did not expect her to trust me, only if she could see results. After a very hard discussion (hard for me, anyway) she told me she loved me very much and we would get through all of this together.
On the positive side, I have been AF for 36 hours now. That is the first time in ?6 months? where I have not had a drink at night. However, it was a real rough night, I did not sleep very well. But I hope it gets better soon. Thanks to all for all the support yesterday as I started this road. And Ripple, hart, Sis, CN83, Jigger, loved chatting with all of you last night, looking forward to doing it again sometime.

KEEP GOING! only you can make that big decision to get better. You will not die unless you KEEP drinking.....just think the remainder of life being clean and sober? I want to die sober and not have another drink forever. Keep coming and sharing, it gets better.

Thanks, Ripple! so how did dinner go last night? did you have any dishes left to use? LOL! mine did not turn out as well as I wanted, i must have not done something correct. i've made that dish before and it was great!

Well I sat still and made sure I ate. I must eat otherwise I get so rild up. Always dreamed of tossing plates like a mad woman, never did it though. Be good and give your wife the gift of life and yourself, so what if your bald, hugs and kisses are always FREE.

It is amazing what are spouses keep putting up with time and again. My Hubby has stayed with me for 15+ years through thick and thin with all of this, I don't know if I could if the tables were reversed. Guess we ended up with a couple of the good ones. It would be nice if we could get our act together for them along with our health! ....by the way my hubby is a bald headed old guy, nothing beats them!

Congrats on your 36 hours it is the right step in the right direction! Just keep taking it (everything) one day at a time and sometimes one hour at a time if needed.

Lets see how hubby helps out 'staying' sober. We cannot always blame ourselves for having a disease. Its work, and they better help out. I'll pass for now.

BHO Guy, Good for you on the 36 hours, and I think you mean it this time! My biggest help is having something else to do during the time that triggers drinking for me...even if it's just a TV show to watch or a book to read...and some ice cream while doing either one! This place is such a help. It's so nice to be able to come here or on chat to get away from the urges. Stay here as much as you can...we're all pulling for you!

Hi - and thanks for asking

Just a cold or something - feel horrible - cant sleep makes it all worse. Lets see if being AF tonight helps with the sleep. Because I slipped I think made me more vulnerable to illness. I hate AL!

I'm glad you had a talk with your wife. It always helps if the spouse is supportive. Hang in there.....first time is always the hardest.....it does get easier the more AF days you have behind you. We are here for you. Good luck.
