    I fianlly did it!

Well, here it is day 16 and I'm still AF and feeling great! I want to thank everyone here for your support and kind words. You have all been a tremendous help. I have been in contact with my wife and she is somewhat surprised as to my progress. No matter what happens with her and my family, I feel great and am proud to say I have been over 2 weeks w/o a drink. Still have a little trouble falling asleep, but once there it is a good deep sleep. Thanks again for all the encouraging words. I'll try to stay in touch a little more frequently. I have been busy building my hobbies to occupy my time rather than drink. I can actually fly my radio control planes without flying them into the ground as I did before when drinking. That certainly helps the wallet out as much as no beers! Have a great weekend, Jettek:thanks:

Good Job Jettek! Getting used to no hangovers? That's a part I never get tired of.....

What kind of RC planes do you build and fly? I've always wanted to do that but figured I could save a lot of time if I just lit a few hundred dollars on fire and threw it up in the air and watched it fall to the ground in flames!!!!

            Jettek,

TOTALLY AWESOME on the 16 days AF!!

Yes. Please be doing this for yourself above everything else. Because life is gonna throw you some curve balls, just like all of us, and you must be doing this because it is what YOU need to do.

Here is to another 16 days with sleep, no hangovers and no regrets.

            Love,
            Cindi

              I fianlly did it!

              Hi Jettek
Well done for 'taking the plunge', as it were. I too decided to try AF and so far it has been a grand total of 13 days AF. My first week was hard, but I would tentatively say that things are getting better. I sat in a restarant tody with my partner and had dinner. He had a glass of wine, and I had a diet coke to drink. I did it, I didn't really enjoy it, but I got through it. A few tips on how I got through my first week, lots of sweets, sparkling water, cups of tea and coffee, trashy magazines, watching lots of TV, trying to keep busy. You can do this, yo can do this, you can do this...........................

Benefits so far: think I may have lost some weight, Skin much better, no headaches, hangovers, feelings of self hatred

I currently am building what is called a slow stick made by gws. That kit only costs about thirty five dollars. I also am building an E-starter also by gws whgich is about fifty dollars. I also have a flying wing by the name of a Zogi. The initial outlay of cash is when you frst start and have to get all the radio gear. To get satarted, plan on an outlay of cash of about $ 500. Once the radio, receiver and servos are bought, the kits are relatively cheap. It is alot of fun and much funner and cheaper when sober! Feel free to ask me questions you may have. BTW it is now day 18:H

                    23 days

Here I am on day 23 and the super bowl knocking on the door. I am going to a super bowl party with some friends, (who do drink) and I am going to get some non-alcoholic beer for the occassion. This will be my first real test since quitting but, I feel up to the test. I will win! Any comments or concerns about this I would very much appreciate them all! Thanks for all the support and help, you guys are all SUPER folks. Regards, Jettek

                          I fianlly did it!

Hi Jettek: Hey: I remember when you "took the plunge"! You are doing great.

I too am going to a Superbowl game today. I have my O'Doul's Amber chilled and I've told my host I'm not drinking. This is important (for me) because last time I was at his house he kindly poured me a glass of wine just the way I like it. I said I'm having an O' Douls, so he put the wine in the refrig, but I eventually went for it. I am mostly pissed that I wasn't alert enough to catch all the plays at the end of the game, but also realize I don't have the willpower I'd like to refuse my drink of choice when its poured.

The next time we went to a sports bar and they didn't have AF beer. I ordered a cranberry juice with soda water and lime, saw every play with a clear head and enjoyed the game 100%. Watching everyone else get semi-trashed did not make me want to drink!

All to say, if you have a plan and stick to it, you'll do GREAT. Have fun!
                          G

The one problem I have and seem to repeat again and again is that I fail to plan my event and hence fall. You got the Odoul's, thats good......but I practice saying "no" out loud because I never do, and its alien to me. I try and envision all scernarios that might come my way and handling them............some well meaning person handing you a REAL beer, comments that might be made, although what I've encountered has been huge support which I didn't expect. I feel so ashamed about my problem, I guess others would be ashamed with me.
