Here's mine:
I debated on getting the Topamax or Campral online and decided - hey I have health insurance that's what I pay for and hey lets throw in a shrink while I'm at it.
I have a new primary care physician because I am in a new town. I met with him and told him I wanted one of these perscripsions. He wouldn't write the script and told me to call Psychiatry and/or the Drug/Alcohol group. He had absolutely no idea what these drugs were and just kept apologizing.
I already know the Drug/Alcohol group likes to push Antabuse (which I can't take because I work with acetone and just being around that will make you puke), AA meetings, and they even have their own meetings but you can't go if you have drank 48 hours prior and you have to go to a certain amount of meetings a week. They're not exactly close to my home or work. They drug test you too. I hated their program.
I called the Psychiatry department, but they told me because it was alcohol related I have to go through their drug/alcohol group. The woman there on the phone couldn't tell me if I can just do the counseling and meds and wouldn't give me to anyone who knew. I made an appointment for tomorrow but I have a horrible feeling when I get there that I have to do their whole program and not just the counseling and meds. Maybe then I'll just try to go back to the Psychiatry department and not tell them its alcohol related.
It's so frustrating!!!!! HMOs suck!
