Face your deficiencies and acknowledge them, but do not let them master you. Let them teach you patience, sweetness, insight.

        Go out or stay in?

Sad, Congraulations! I've been wondering about you and how you've been. I am so proud of you. It's a hard to be out with drinkers and not drink. The L-Glutamine does help curb the cravings and maybe you can have someone from the states send you the calm forte. It shouldn't have to go through customs, but I don't know that for sure. Again, congratulations for crossing such a big hurdle.

            Go out or stay in?

Congratulations Sad! Like everything else in life it take practice to gain confidence in what ever we do. Learning music, painting pictures, solving problems, SOCIALIZING WITHOUT ALCOHOL. I have had three "practice sessions" and am getting better but still have a long way to go in building the confidence i would like to have. So yes, I would say it does get easier. For me it looks like it will be a long process. Every situation is different. I will be going to visit family this summer and I am already anxious about the drinking issues that will come up. I have only been AF 24 days, so I don't know why I am anticipating something 6 months from now. Maybe it will take that long to get ready for the family situations.

              Go out or stay in?

Thanks for your interest and support !
Friday night was kind of an interesting experiment. I did go to the dinner, no one put any pressure on me for drinking perrier, but I noticed a few things about myself in a sober social situation. For a start, I was constantly holding, touching, drinking out of my (perrier)glass. To the point that it got all smudged up and messy looking by the end of the dinner.(nerves i guess?) Also- although I felt moments of discomfort at first, it got a bit easier towards the end of the meal, when the others were a bit liquored up! One friend, though not messy drunk, was quite obviously intoxicated- and it made me wonder if any of the people I was with were struggling with their own concerns about al. I was home by 12, and pretty happy to have made it through the evening. I did feel a little boring though. My conversation skills were not great without the 'help' of the wine. I think a 'party' situation will be even trickier!
