Bambi, my lad had something similar a few months ago... well it was ear-canal surgery (apparently a usual thing for kids-- supposed to be very untraumatic). ANYWAY, I swore also I would not drink, and I would nurse him oh so sober. BUT, it tore me apart to see him in so much pain that I ended up drinking more than ever. SO, I just wanted to warn you... make sure there is no alcohol in the house, because when you see your wee one in agony, well, it hurts in the gut, and AL is there to help ease that hurt if you let him.

          Time to step it up....scared!

          Good Morning!

          Hi All,

Well my sons surgery is over and it went good. He is home laying on the couch and we are watching movies. He will only be eating soft foods for about a week and hopefully the pain won't be too bad.....

I'm feeling pretty good, glad it is over and I am on Day one AF. Can't leave him alone for 24 hours so I know I won't be drinking and am looking forward to this weekend with out drinking also. Hopefully this attitude will keep up for my 14 days :').

Hope everyone is haveing a good day!

Glad all went well with the surgery. And you sound like you're doing well too. Keep it up! Both drink lots of water.

                Bambi,

Good on you for wanting to be sober for your son's oral surgery.

I hope the movies are fun and you are truly enjoying your time with him.

Life is short. Trust me. I have grandchildren and know. Life is short.

Give your boy all the love and time you can. There will come a day when he will want to be with others besides you. So, let today be the best so that he can remember that mama loves him more than anything.

                Love,
                Cindi

Bambi~ how is little Bambino doing today?

I'm very proud of you for making this decision. Sometimes, when I look at myself through my child's eyes, I'm really proud of what I see~ the laughing moments when I'm trying to play football with him, but since I really don't want to follow the rules, I make up my own.... sitting in a crowded auditorium in the middle of a work day, so I can watch as he is awarded for excellent grades..... holding him close after he's been hurt~ those are the moments to cherish. Hopefully, my son will also be remembering those moments, and not the ones where I'm obnoxiously drunk after Thanksgiving dinner trying to orchestrate kitchen clean up.... or early mornings when I'm stumbling around with a raging hangover, trying to get him out to the school bus so that I can go back to bed to sleep until 10 or 11 am....... or where we are out for dinner and all of a sudden, he realizes I have PURPLE teeth (well, they weren't PURPLE, they were MERLOT, okay?)

The most important thing to do is be strong for YOU. He will be there and love you no matter what. And you mention that you and hubby aren't talking much~ I hope this is your chance to heal with him, too. Love is too precious to drink away.

                    :h:
