    drowning

I have been drinking for 20 years. Tomorrow is my 41st birthday. I have been "closet" drinking for about 6 months. My mate and I used to always drink, not alot, but he has quit and expects me to also. Today I bought a 30 pack to put in the "closet". I already had a 12 pack in. I talked to a good friend today whos daughter is in a 28 day program. She is about my age. I am sad. I don't want to quit, but am fearful if I don't I will lose my 2 boys. I am not married to this man. He is the father of our boys. I need help, cannot leave the house to do a 28 dayer. Found your site while looking at one. :new: Bostonbay

Bostonbay you have made the right first step. This community is great at support and advice or help. We are all in the same boat struggling on a daily basis. The first thing is to want to quit or moderate your drinking. I was open about mine at home hurting my son and husband as they hated to see me drink EVERY night after work and pretty much all day on weekends. I found this sight last week and can happily say I am now working on 5 days of no drinking. In 8 days I slipped one time but am still proud to have made it mor ethan 2 without a drink. We are here for you so read, post ask advice. There is a lot of info on here to absorb so again questions about supps or literature or anything as away there will be someone here who can answer I am sure. Welcome to our community and hope to hear more from you :l

Hi boston..........you just found your life jacket by coming to MWO.

Read the book, arm yourself with the supps and the meds if need be.

MWO has changed my life. It`s hard to believe that we can change our lives when first we come here.........I had no faith whatsoever in my ability to quit, but if I could manage to do it, so too can you.

              Wishing you love and strength.

                  Welcome boston

Hello boston and :welcome: also was a closet drinker. First post here confessed my dirty guilty, little secret, such a relief to be honest at last. Ditch the booze if you can, some of us can never moderate, no booze in house is the rule. Early days for you, but well done for first post. Life AF is so good compared to life with booze demon. You will need to choose and baby steps are OK. Hope to see you around the boards.
                  Kind regards
                  Vic

Hi Bostonbay, just wanted to say welcome. Ditto all above especially the reading through the posts. The support and humour here you will not find anywhere else, yes we are all in the same boat/climbing the same moutain but all at different stages and all have different angles. Looking forward to hearing how you are getting on.

I also wanted to add a GREAT BIG WELCOME - you will find much support, advice, humor, understanding and most of all love.

Oh and watch out this can become a new addiction - I can spend hours on these boards and not even realize it - but hey it's better than driking eh?
