Newbie needs help with tremor problems - quickly.

    Hey all.

I found this site a few weeks ago and posted a bit on this subject. I was warmly welcomed and got a bit of good advice and I am very gratefull for that.

I need a bit more info if possible and I have to shape up quickly!

I have had at least one drink most days for about 20 years. The last two years I have been drinking heavily. I have had tremor problems before, and if I cut back they went away. I started a great job this week and while trying to cut back have been fighting tremors each day. They will not tolerate alcohol problems and if I can't learn to draw blood, I'll loose this job. Hard to do with shaky hands - and hard to hide, I'm sure.

My drinking is emotional - to fight the demons and to sleep. I am taking steps to solve those problems - including hypnotherapy.

Does anybody know how to make this process go quicker? I have tried cold turkey before and that has been a disaster. I have "weened myself back" a few times and that worked. This doesn't seem to be working this time - maybe just not fast enough?

Is there something I can do or take to get past this? Will it just take longer this time? Have I done irreversible dammage and will always have this problem?

Any insight, advice, kind words or good thoughts appreciated.

    Peace....

Ok,I just keep posting, cuz i just want to make sure that you are ok,IMOUT...I really don't know how to 'chat' in the chat room...so i guess this is me chatting :H ..i would assume that the shakiness in the hands that we have experienced would end if we had gone more than a few days w/ out any alcohol...have you gone more than a day ore 2 w/out al?if so ,did it stop?

IMOUT,i just read your post again and i see that yousay that you have weaned before, tremors stopped.not so this time.Do you think maybe it's because this time you have been drinking more and you just need to wea na bit more slowly?that would make sense to me.I doubt you have done irreversible damage!you may just need to wean a bit more slowly this time ebcause your intake has been higher?

                  Thanks Tawny and Rebecca.

Rebecca - (I sent you a private msg too,)

                  No, I can't remember the last time I didn't have a drink.

And it's not just my hands, but even leg weakness, feeling jittery and weak all over. Yesterday I had trouble writing in class. I get the shakes if I go 3 - 5 hours without a shot or two. And, tomorrow I am on a 10 hour shift, so I am kinda scared.

I went on a week long binge last year (better drunk than dead was my motto), and when I stoped I eneded up in the emergency room because I couldn't keep anything down and my whole body was shaking so bad. So, I don't want to go there.....

I keep thinking that if I started working, I would sleep better, then I wouldn't drink so much, then I would feel better and be able to take vitamins and exercise, etc....

I didn't think I would have this much of a problem. But, I am alone this week and started coming down with a cold, so I had some vodka, and of course, had too much before I knew it... so I have been trying to come back down slowly....

Reb - I hope so! But I am running out of time!!!!! I had some vodka at lunch, and just a beer tonight, so maybe I am getting somewhere, but I'm worried about tomorrow and next week.

I know that feeling. And my heart of hearts tells my dehydration. Water, water, water. Supplements, supplements, supplements, supplements. Eat, eat, eat.

Hi Imout-the Kudzu really does help. I just started a week ago and still drink but I have noticed that it really helps, especially during the day when you cannot drink. I have a good job that I do not want to lose and it helps to know I have the Kudzu. I also take the L-Glut supplement in the morning and at noon. I also take many of the other supplements recommended in the book. Maybe it's mostly psychological but to know I've filled my body with good things like all the B vitamins makes me not want to erase that with drink, at least during the day. I'm hoping once I have some time with all of this, it will carry over into the rest of my life like evenings and weekends.

I'm not sure about the tremor issue but can someone be there while you are cutting back? Maybe a friend could supervise helping you cut back by keeping the alcohol and giving you smaller and smaller amounts?

Good luck and I know this can be done. In the moment, it seems insurmountable but given all of the moments we have in life, it will be different. We change by doing things like coming to this site, even if we don't recognize progress as it happens. Next week hasn't happened yet, just the moment you are in right now. And that can be dealt with.

Imout, I agree with what everybody else has said, including drink lots of water, take the supps, take the amino's like l-glut and get some of the kudzu. I am awaiting the kudzu from this site. Sure do know the feeling too, can remember days at work when I had to unlock doors for people waiting and I'd see my hand shaking, anchor it steady on the door with the pinky and think, did they notice?? The tremors should go away as you cut down consumption and get a few good nights of sleep. :h Suz
