That is a good question. I don't know either, but I would start by clicking around on this site. Much luck to you!!!

RJ mentions it in the FAQs here:

        https://www.mywayout.org/community/f7...-faq-3968.html

...basically you have to keep contacting doctors until you find one that will help.

If you are just looking for the meds, you can buy them from River Pharmacy. Advantage of going to the Doctor is insurance may cover it. If you order from River Pharmacy (go to the Health Store and I think they have an advertisement there) it takes about 2-3 weeks to arrive.

        Good luck

You can get started here without your doctor. Just keep coming every day, and you will see where you are comfortable and feel supported if you continue to post. You will read the posts from others who are like you, with one problem we all share: alcohol abuse. I am 28 days AF just by coming here, reading RJ's book My Way Out and Allan Carr's book, Easy Way to Stop Drinking. I also wrote down a list of things I hate about my excessive drinking, and gave it to my husband. I was a weekly binge drinker. Many others feel that they need the various supplements, relaxation CD's meds etc. I don't know their consumption levels. I personally like to try fewer things at a time, so I know what works.
My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

How do I find a doctor in my area that will support this program?

I went to my (new and recommended) doctor last summer and told him one of my personal goals for the year was to get my relationship with alcohol under control. He mentioned that there were drugs to help that. In January I started MWO but didn't read the book right away. Once I read about Topamax and all the vits and minerals I took the program info to him and he read it over, said he thought none of it could hurt and thought it would probably help. He wrote the script for Topamax and said he was proud of me for trying this. All this to say, you might be surprised that your own doctor could be helpful.

PS. I work for the insurance company that insures me, and I know alot of people worry about having that info in their records. The privacy protections are such that if that info gets leaked or you suffer any repurcussions related to your private health info getting used against you you have lots of avenues to raise holy hell.
